only missed one thing, the ability to pre-heat in the cold. It just meant I had to walk to the car on my drive, sit in and manually set pre-heat.
Turn on the "pre-heat on unlock", if your car is within range of your keyfob, press unlock and it will then pre-heat for up to 60 minutes.

ah yeh, I did read something on that few months ago - slipped my mind.

I subscribed last feb and it renews feb 2026. I just logged into the website and it does indeed have monthly only option. I guess they removed the yearly option.

Agree about annoying to pay on a very expensive vehicle, it is the antithesis of luxury to be nickel & dimed.
Really, Porsche should be aware of this and include at least 5 years of service.
The reality is $300 yearly cost is about equal to about 10 days of used Taycan depreciation.
Add to that the lost investment returns of laying out something like $80k at whatever the return on investment or your interest cost if you did a loan. That’s in the neighborhood of $6,000 per year.
Buy new tires? Well thats $2,000 or so…
Just wait for any out of warranty repair…
The $300 saving might feel good but is just futile resistance, it’s not enough to influence cost in a meaningful way. It is a stupidly expensive car to own, you are burning cash at a terrible rate, it is not a rational choice, it is an extravagant choice.
In your defense, I tried to buy a yearly subscription, was unable to and annoyed, and then let it run out. I ended up resubscribing a month later while on a “surprise” 2000 mile road trip (my wife's Volvo got an error just as we were leaving for a multi-state excursion).

For me it is not a question whether I can afford it or not!

I just don’t see the value in it. Porsche lowered the Subscription for charging during 2025 but are now increasing it again from January in France at least. Why should Porsche always try to charge 2.5 or 3 times what other premium manufacturers charge. Just to have the Logo on the card?

I'm 2 months in without paying the subscription and only missed one thing, the ability to pre-heat in the cold. It just meant I had to walk to the car on my drive, sit in and manually set pre-heat. I typically charge from home when I get out of the car and see I'm getting low. I use waze for sat nav and can't think of anything else I had before that I miss. If it was £100 a year I would probably go for it but don't see the value even though as some people have said - it is a £150k car 😀
Simply activate preheat , when unlock che car with remote .

Porsche should comp a year of Porsche Connect for every 10 days spent in service. My Taycan spends about a month a year in service, so my free subscription would grow over time.

Not always practical. I often pre-heat my car from outside the range of the keyfob (e.g. in a restaurant finishing a meal, or playing cards at a casino, or ending a day at the office, on a way back from a hike - car 5 minutes or more walking distance away).

Pre-conditioning is the main feature I would miss. The only other one would be live SoC when charging on road-trips (either AC or DC).

There are 3 uses which mean I have coughed up the cash.

Pre-heating or cooling the car. This would be possible about half the time I use it by leaning into the car and pressing a pad on one of the displays but a bit of a pita.

Synchronising with my power supply company to charge when the grid has a surplus.

Checking how a charge is going from a restaurant - I pretty well always plan my charges on a journey with meal breaks.

Porsche Connect expired yesterday.

The functions disappeared on the day of expiration, not at midnight but halfway through the day.

In the car, the navigation with charging stops works as before, and the same applies to Apple CarPlay connected to the Porsche account.

The only two missing features are remote climate control and charging profile management, but we can live without them.

We’ll try going without it for now. If there happens to be a promotion for an annual subscription, we’ll think about it; for the moment it’s fine as it is. After all, at home the car is just two meters from the kitchen: you just unlock it with the key fob (after activating the function on the PCM) and it starts preconditioning the cabin, exactly like I used to do via the app. As for checking whether it’s charging, I can see that both from the wallbox app and from the Tesla Powerwall app.

The contract on mine ran out last week.
Nice to learn of the Precool/heat on unlock with the remote.
The Precool/heat with a timer still works.
Preconditioning the battery with PCM navigation still works, if you had already set the charging destinations as favorites.
I'd imagine if going on a trip you would just reenable the contract for a month.
I use Waze for non charging destination navigation anyways, as it's good to know where the gendarmes are.

My contract expired in Sept and I have been fine until I recently renewed my Eon Next energy contract here on the UK. Their terms state that you must connect your vehicle to their App to enable the off-peak tarrif. I am working with Eon to explain that I cannot connect but I keep getting sent reminders to connect my vehicle to enable cheap charging.
Has anyone else had a similar issue where the lack of connectivity to the car affects your ability to access off-peak charging. I will update if I make progress with this issue.
