Tyre brand for Taycan - poor longevity with current

I run Pirelli P-Zero NFO ELECT on my 21" wheels.

I would be concerned about my insurance status if not running a tyre that is specifically for use in Electric cars, due to their weight.

That’s why I only use what my dealer included on my CPO 2021 and their advice to consider the PZero electric for my next tire change. I am on the 3rd set of PZeros but am considering the PZero electric on my next tire change.
The Pirelli’s have been problem free and have lasted at least 15K miles which is fine with me since we drive 4K to 5K miles per year. Either way I’ll replace my tires every 4-5 years max.

PS4 are not NF0/1. Would that be an issue?

Yes they are. Mine certainly are. Search on Blackcircles - there is an NF0 version

I went from P0s to Asy5 and I’m really happy with them. Less road noise imho.

Yes, I agree, the Asy5’s have been great. However I keep getting sidewall bulges and inner wall gashes that make me want to try something else.

Agreed. Do we know which tires come on the 2026 models or new allocations or is it a tossup between the two options listed above?. I use Michelin pilot sport 4S tires, albeit on my SUV but still those puppies go quickly for 120 mile daily commute and I wanna try out some all seasons.

The only the good thing is that those tires are bigger and wider and cost more so , anything I use for the Taycan will be cheaper and a financial win in my book!

At least here in the US, the PS4S only has rear 21 inch tire with NF0, bc it matched a 991/992 spec. But there was no Taycan front tire in NF0 spec.

My plan is to just buy the regular tires. Note there are MB and Tesla spec, don't recommend using Tesla spec

none of the above. It’s a MB GLE Coupe. The tires are PS 4s’s are great, but they are a summer tire. I’m looking for a little bit more tread life is all. I’m switching them out to all seasons soon.

I’m taking that same mindset to the GTS and spec’d 21” all seasons on the RS spiders

And you still think they are great with the issues you listed. Perhaps it’s just the road surface conditions in your area. I’ll be like yourself and do mostly Hwy miles.

To clarify, they feel great in the car. Grip dry and wet is excellent. Road noise good. So overall they suit the car.

the tyre damage issue might not be a tyre fault and could easily be road conditions. I’m in UK. Economy stagnant.and local councils short of cash. Road maintenance has suffered. I’ve never known such poor roads. Potholes everywhere.

I recommend sticking with NF0/NF1 tyres unless you want to invalidate warranty (and possibly insurance as you’re not operating car within manufacturer guidelines).

Make sure you’re running the tyres at high enough pressures (at least what’s stamped on the plate) and ensure you don’t have excessive/misaligned toe - this should stop the inner shoulder wear

Just checked the Porsche USA warranty doc, and I can't find anything that says you must use N-spec tires.

It's funny how the different car communities treat OE spec tires.

Porsche: Only use OE!
BMW: doesn't really matter unless you're tracking your M car.
Audi: avoid OE like the plague, just buy decent Michelin or Contis.

I have Porsche Wheel and Tire Protection... I wonder what they would do if I popped an unapproved tire.

I recently replaced the factory original Michelin PS4 NF0 tyres after over 30k Kms. I found them to be great for noise, grip and wear, so I replaced with the same tyre.
I'd previously run Pirelli P0's on my M3 and found them noisy and not as durable.
