Just completed a trip to St Andrews Scotland from Southampton In my Taycan ST 4S and I only had to stop twice for charging at IONITY in Stafford and Gretna Green, returning home with 70 miles range remaining and averaging over 260 miles range. The network isn’t perfect but if you drive at the right times there is no need to worry. The car is a dream to drive long distance and at only £100 spent on charging is a bargain road tripper!

I've always had to queue at Gretna Green – but the clichéd albeit accurate – British love of orderly queuing – has always made it not stressful!

IONITY Metz in France however – grrrrr!

We took the Mini Countryman hybrid to France, didn’t want to queue up behind all those Dutch Electric lease car drivers. When half of Netherlands is driving to and through France, it’s not funny anymore…

I know, charging with only 3.4kWh taking whole day as they use their corporate charging card… ?

I do believe that as technology improves and EV range increases, it will ultimately be met with the general public’s recognition that “more range“ is unnecessary. 300-400 miles will become generally accepted…along with an improved global network. I think efficiency will become the real talking point…as it probably should, for most commuter vehicles.

I’m getting about 255 range on my 4S CT on 21 in wheels . Just back from France where a KWH was costing me less than 10p so well less than £10 for a tank full. Shame we have a Government who insist I pay 30p a kWh in the uk from same company EDF.

Just moved to Eon Next Drive, only 9.5p kw 12 to 7 am and 35p all other times. Great for charging over night!

It could even get as serious as someone muttering 'ah-em' within earshot!!

Good day , i got my car last month and just signed up for this tarriff last week.

I set up a general profile to charge the car between mid night and 7 am but this is ignored and charging starts as soon as I connect the car. I called Porsche and someone told me those hours are just “preferred’. Can you advise how best to ensure charging is only between mid night and 7 am ?

Yes, you must ensure you set your Direct charging to “off” you can then set a charging profile with a time between 12 and 7 am. You will need to set a minimum charge %, this will override your profile if your battery is below this minimum charge. I set mine at 10% I hope this helps.
