Why the Styling 'Refresh'??

I have never owned nor yet ordered a Taycan so more neutral than J1 or new owners. I was never a tear drop fan, and prefer the 2025’s cleaner front fascias.

I too am also disappointed by the lower center screen remaining the same with the refresh; hopefully it would be refreshed for 2026. The cost to so would be minimal and the visual improvement would be significant.

Well, Tesla did do a Model S refresh. At first the new refresh looked worse to me too, it looked "muzzled" (top picture below)

But, as time went by, the new look grew on me (and lots of people), and the old one (bottom of above picture) just started to look dated. I owned 2 pre-refresh and 2 post refresh, including owning both styles for ~7 years, so can attest that my taste changed over those years. I started with preference for the old one, ended liking the new style. The same is likely to happen to the new Taycan. At first it looks worse, but then it becomes the standard, the old one starts looking dated. Full disclosure, I only have the old Taycan today, and not crazy about the new style at the moment. I also consider the new Taycan styling somewhat inconsistent as far as front vs. back styling. Talk to me in a few years, maybe I will change my mind.

I am really hoping that the next generation styling does away with the shovels, extra scoops, and life-buoy wheels. I just don’t know what they were thinking…

It doesn't matter what I think, but at my last trip to the dealer, they jokingly said 'I don't suppose you want a new Taycan...we can't shift them as nobody likes the revised look, including us'

This is fixed starting with 2023 as mine has a spring and stays open. I also drove a 2024 and it has the same thing. I will be test driving a 2025 for curiosity.

Try Macan EV cluster. I drove one for a day with tactile center console and it is poorly executed vs. the current ICE Macan. I would rather have all glass Taycan console that is easy to wipe.

Honestly, the changes are not that big. Yes the tear drop has been removed and the headlight is “flat” but almost nobody will notice. Sales are down since EV’s are not that attractive anymore, prices are 10% higher for j1.2 compared tot j1 and we complain a lot on this forum. So if you consider the Taycan and Google one question, you’ll skip it. Almost everyone who has the budget, likes Porsche and considers an EV already has one or had one.

I saw a 2025 Taycan 4 CT in the showroom and thought it looked better in person than in the pics I have seen. What really surprised me is how much the price has increased since I bought our 4CT in May of 2022. I guess I haven't been keeping up with current pricing. Most likely will not get a new one unless they bring back Mamba Green Metallic or they come out with a Taycan Coupe, similar to the Audi A5 (I realize the chances of this are zero).

The new design (J1.2) is less interesting than gen 1.

It’s just a refresh to keep sales going before the new model will replace it. J1.2 is not good enough for most of the owners who had J1 to replace it. Both for depreciation and for the tech leap forward they think they are selling.

Last week I had for 4 days J1.2 and with temperature below zero the gap between J1 and J1.2 was of 20 miles. Interior quality is shocking with that faux, looking like cheap vinyl from the 70s. The plastic dashboard… no comment

So they are following in Tesla Model S footsteps, except Tesla lowered prices when they replaced leather with faux leather and plastics, removed stalks, etc. Perhaps Porsche think they can have their cake and eat it too - reduce costs, increase prices. I think they forgot to look at what happened to Model S sales volumes, even though they lowered prices.

I never liked the old Model S, still dont but I do like the new design (the new interior too) but I wouldn't buy it.
So I think I won't like the new Taycan till the end of days.
