Per @Sly_North post:
"This update improves the display and warning concept of your high voltage battery's on-board diagnostic function."
What could be clearer and more informative than that?

I updated mine yesterday and it’s told me 3 times that it’s been updated 🤦‍♂️
Probably because I can’t see any change lol

Also an update after the update; the navigation is still broken😆
Not sure how I can go on a long road trip without using the porsche charging planner and its associated benefits such as battery preconditioning🥸

Do you have ABRP in your country, or something similar?

It doesn't pre-condition the battery. And range estimates can change quite often in europe.
I can go from switzerland 120 km/h speed, across the border to germany 260km/h in less than 30mins; and hit traffic 20km in and go down to 40km/h max speed. And since it's germany, it will rain and be windy and shitty weather, so range will differ even more.

So a pre-planned route rarely works, even more so in winter.

Or don't even need all that, it's switzerland, all I need is a mountain pass on my route and all estimates made by any app ahead of time are out the window :D

ABRP in the US can be used live (via CarPlay) and the paid subscription includes real time weather and traffic conditions for range calculations. In my experience it predicted range better than Porsche. True that it doesn’t preheat, but only Porsche Nav can do that, and if it’s dead, best you can do is use SportPlus to set the highest battery temperature target.

What is the latest in terms of Porsche fixing the navigation? I mean, its a pretty big feature loss for an EV not having the navigation with Porsche charging planner…

No. I have good internal Porsche sources. Nothing before Q3 2026. Priority for J1.2 now.
It's a paid feature, so I assume Porsche is fine with being sued for it not working for 1.5 years while people paid for it?
170.000 taycans x 350$ a year = about 60mil. Could be a spicey class action lawsuit :)

I also now have this.

Key points from the message:
Online software update
A new online software update is available for installation: High-voltage battery control unit (WST2)
This update improves the display and warning concept for the onboard diagnostic function of your high-voltage battery.
The installation takes approx. 7 minutes.

The update was notified Monday 29th. I expected the install would be completed when I locked and left the car then. I didn’t use the car until today, 31st. The message popped up again then when I parked up after a short drive. When I returned to the car the update completion message was there. Unclear to me why it didn’t work first time.

I echo other’s comments about the current unreliability and immaturity of AI. The IT industry is great at re-hyping standard Data Processing techniques under the AI banner (and others previously). If there’s no learning capability loop there’s no intelligence. It’s just unfiltered data aggregation - raw data. Human Interpretation is required. An AI backlash will surely follow if unfiltered data it is relied upon for financial and health care decisions.

Did anyone else worry about their car being bricked by a Porsche OTA update during a season when no support was available? Critical systems usually have embargos on updates during holiday periods.
