You worked hard to get this car and it respondents more than just a steel object.

I'm much worse than you so I mitigate my OCD.
I have a Bolt EV That don't care about for those times when the weather is bad, rough areas, gym, running errands or need to valet.
I try not to park to next to trucks or certain cars, wont valet. I PPFed a lot of the car including the windshield.

These precautions aren't foolproof but a higher probability of success

I wish I'd done that and will next time.

Every Porsche I've ever had gets tiny pockmarks all over the windwhield.
At 800 miles I had 2 huge ones that should have cracked the windshield both times and I see the small pockmarks on the PPF too.
I'll need to replace the PPF after 2000 Miles. I'll replace the PPF every year

I can relate. I was primarily driving a 17 year old Honda Accord with the bumper scraping the ground before I got my Taycan. I didn't worry about anything with the Honda because there was little that could make that car look worse. Somehow it was hard to acknowledge that the Taycan was just a piece of steel like any car because the Taycan was such a huge upgrade for me and something I had been excited about for so long. The Taycan was my first Porsche.

I just had to remind myself that Porsches are made for driving. I ended up driving my Taycan in all kinds of conditions including multiple blizzards, some brutal camping roads, etc. The car took a few bruises along the way, but such is life and bruises can be fixed at the Porsche body shop. I cannot enjoy the car if it is sitting in the garage.

The fact that you're on the phone in your car and you think you can read the mind of an individual walking by based on how their face looks suggests there are deeper issues here. To the point where you left the vicinity and came back with a different car? Seems like a bit of paranoia.

My approach is that they are just cars, but special cars that give you back a lot more than others.. you do need to use them - drive them hard, dont worry about the little things, just part of using them. But take care of them and then they take care of you! its a relationship :) My wife drives the taycan wagon - she uses it everyday to get to school, we have 2 kids 7&9 + poodle in the trunk - use it for all our family roadtrips, skiing etc - we need it to deliver and it does! My daily is a 97 993 C2 - drive the kids to work everyday. Both have their daily use wear and tear, but i take care of them and they deliver. They are not perfect cosmetically, but that is not why i bought them ;) I do take care of where i park, but dont go to the extremes as life happens. When a kid watches me drive by and takes pics on my phone ill pull over and let them check out the car - i was one of them growing up and is part of the magic :)

everyday supercars!

phil.

I'm in Northern CA also and drive a Mamba Green Cross Turismo. I park in the grocery store parking lots and actually nobody pays any attention to it. I just try to park in one of the wider spots so I can open the front door all the way.

My 1997 Acura NSX in Spa Yellow was more of an attention getter...

Piling on.. there are 2 main camps - here and everywhere - those who want their cars to look nice, and those who gave up. It's a preference, which means there are good arguments on either side, _and_ no one will change your own instinctive preference (which may not be that instinctive, but come from your own life experiences).

Find your camp, and let go of the tug of the other - it only causes anxiety. Both camps thoroughly enjoy their cars, and that's all that matters.

My wife and I picked up the car with just about 120km on it. The dealer probably just drove it around the lot or for some test runs.

Before the car hit 200 km, I've:

1. Scratched the right rear passenger door on an underground parking pillar. It is still visible now as we are looking to replace the ppf in another two years. I was absolutely crushed as we've only had the car for less than a month.

2. Curbed the front right Mission-E rims. Massive crunching sound as I was unaware of the side camera functionality.

Before 3,000 km's:

3. Parked under a leaky pipe in the underground lot where we park. Left a few streaks of watermarks that look permanent. Does not buff off now.

4. A mint fell into the side crease of the driver's side door that is now forever unreachable until I go in for that seat recall.

5. Found out the rear left rim hit a rock and now left a large scratch. So that's two-wheel damages in less than a year of ownership.

No major issues driving, just the occasional CarPlay hang-up.

Enjoy the car! It's made to be driven and used. That rear passenger car door scratch makes for a great conversation and laugh now.
I’m siding with OP on this one. You should be more careful IMO. ?

You should try parking it an a UK parking bay if you want some supermarket dent anxiety. They were designed with minis (original size) in mind!

and why, when you park well away from the supermarket in the empty areas, does some tosser always come and park next to you ?

We also have an infant and you should see the rear seat area. It’s pretty much stacked like a portable diaper stand fortress.

We can survive massive global baby gear shortage in the taycan. LoL.
No milk spit up smell, but the amount of baby stuff is hilarious to look at.

Before the taycan, I have not regularly driven for a good 8 years. So that First few days were nerve racking. The side scratch was due to trying a number of dc chargers during the first week in a tight underground lot. Misjudged the width of the car.
Now that I’m used to driving again, these situations shouldn’t happen.

Same situation in the city I live in. City was originally designed to accommodate bicycles, not cars. Some the older building parking lots are so painstakingly small and cramped.
