The biggest issue with CarPlay, or at least Android Auto, v the native Spotify is the sound quality is just noticeably poorer.
I haven't noticed that. What audio package did you go with?

I don’t know why but Spotify doesn’t work well for me - when I start my car, there is 20-25% chance that Spotify will not play anything - switching songs doesn’t result in any sound, accessing list of favorite songs may not work either as it’ll saying “loading data”.

So annoying! Am I the only one? Also, I see on my pcm screen that there is no lte for the first 20-30 seconds (or even longer after a night).

1 out of 4 of my journeys end up without music or listening to radio (it’s not what I want with burmester :\). Is that normal?

The Spotify integration works poorly for me. I'll try and use it, but if there's any hiccup in cell signal or if the PCM just feels like it, it'll switch to Android Auto Spotify. I'll notice as the audio quality drops as it is better with the native app.

I have this problem: am considering ditching my Spotify account for satellite radio (though I wouldn't be happy about that exchange). Takes too much time to get started after starting the car (waiting on LTE presumably) and then it much-too-frequently completely locks up with the "Loading Data".

The one trick that seems to work for the "Loading Data" problem (assuming you have LTE) is to log out of Spotify and then re-connect by scanning the QR code. It doesn't take too long if you're already logged into things on your phone, but obviously still requires you to park for a bit to do - not a fun solution to be doing frequently.

As I said not too long ago, I got the integration to work and find its not as reliable or useful as Apple CarPlay so I am not using it. However I have no problem with accessing Spotify via CarPlay. I simply can't say "Hey Porsche, Play Spotify" but then my car doesn't seem to understand any thing I say to it, so its not necessarily a Spotify thing. Its a "Hey Porsche" thing. Maybe it doesnt speak English.

That works, but not ideal either. Looks like CarPlay is the way to go then :\

Spotify very rarely works for me via the native app. I have not tried using Car Play. I constantly get "loading data" that goes nowhere. I have a suspicion that the problem is the LTE signal strength. Several people have commented on the better sound quality with the native app and that would require better bandwidth. I have really really poor cell coverage/strength where I live and never have Spotify upon leaving the garage . I need to pay more attention to the signal strength while driving around and when Spotify does function via the native app. I agree with @Speuk that it could be really reliant on a strong LTE signal.

Interestingly today Native Spotify has worked really well. I drove 106 miles to the Midlands this morning and back this evening. Both journeys Spotify loaded quite quickly and on the return journey I made a point of switching albums and play lists frequently to test it, each time the loading data message appeared for a few seconds an then loaded what I had selected.
Could this be a freak occurrence or did last weeks updates to the servers fix it?
Time will tell!!

I have not noticed a difference in sound quality with native Spotify.

I'm new here, but I thought I'd chime in on this old thread. Hope you guys don't mind. So, I have to say, I feel your pain. I've definitely had my fair share of issues with the Spotify integration in my car. But, I have to say, after a bit of tweaking and tinkering, I've gotten it to work pretty well. I totally get what you mean about the shuffling thing.

I feel your frustration with the Spotify integration. It's supposed to make things easier, but it can be a hit or miss. Saying "Hey Porsche, play Spotify" should be a breeze, but it sounds like you've been encountering some roadblocks. Bummer!

If "Spot-EE-fy" doesn't respond most of the time, that's not cool. And the issues you mentioned, like the program not being registered or the application not playing properly, can be super annoying. Plus, the never-ending shuffle can get old real quick.

If you're looking to streamline your music experience, you might want to check out SMM-World. They offer options to buy permanent twitch followers, and while it may not directly solve your Spotify woes, it's worth considering if you want to boost your Twitch channel and engage with a wider audience.

I've had some mixed experiences with it too. Sometimes it's smooth sailing, but other times, I've faced similar hiccups like you mentioned. The whole "Hey Porsche, play Spotify" thing doesn't always go as planned for me either. Oh, and just to add, currently I've been using Spotify not only for listening but also to promote my own music. For aspiring musicians like me, it's an incredible platform to reach potential fans around the world. I'm actively working on growing my engagement and audience of listeners, and who knows, maybe one day you'll find my tracks on your playlists too!
