Integration with App is successful. Here is first glance. I can confirm that does not impact Waze or any other apps.

a few observations: still tricky to get Porsche Nav to work simultaneously (as I can with Waze) BUT Waze and Apple Maps will run simultaneously, which would be great if the integration with Apple will preheat batteries. Sole downside is that when Apple makes an announcement, the instructions show up in band across bottom of Waze screen AND the Waze menu bar descends from the top as if you had touched the screen. Apparently same thing happens when on Apple screen (see pic). Also, my Apple Watch goes nuts with each instruction, which is annoying and distracting. I need to play with settings.

That is exactly right. If enough people use Waze, it is so very accurate and reliable.

I will say that I got a ticket in the Midwest once because I had become too confident and didn’t realize nobody was using Waze so nobody had reported the police location
Or, sometimes the police report themselves as they drive around, to slow people down. Nothing in the terms of service says that only non-police can report police.

Waze is great, but radar and laser countermeasures provide additional protection.

radar and laser are both unlawful here. Cops don’t seem to report themselves around here, and I would prefer that to having no reports as with Apple and Porsche nav

Ya, the setting for that is in the Watch app on your iPhone. Check under the Maps settings in the 'My Watch' section: "Driving with CarPlay" toggle in Turn Alerts.

Took me a while to find that.

On the topic of Waze alerts, Apple Maps does also have reporting features, but the UI button to report them is hidden until you tap on the screen, so it's not quite as easy to get to.

Also, they only have three reporting categories; crash, hazard, and speed check. I get the feeling that the speed check is used for "there's a cop here".

Speeding is also unlawful, isn't it? ;) Having a stealth radar/laser countermeasure is just another way to avoid getting caught. The only thing you could argue is that it's easier to get away with using waze warnings, but that can be offset by proper stealth.

Out of curiosity, what's more expensive, speeding ticket or radar detector ticket?

Not sure about the US, but in NZ Apple Maps shows and alerts for upcoming speed camera locations (fixed and temporary).

Radar/Laser detector. But it’s not really an apple to apples choice: Waze works amazingly well here, it is free, and I don’t get another ticket, or equipment seized, if I’m stopped. So I’m not sure why anyone would bother with radar/laser detectors in my area. I don’t know anyone who even bothers anymore in this area.

Seems to require an app update, as well as the latest iOS update (16.4.1).
You are correct. I just updated the myporsche app (10 seconds) and brought my iOS up to date (10 minutes) with 16.4.1. You also need to hop in the car and follow the instructions on the app, under "functions," to allow the PCM and iPhone to chit chat (30 seconds). Not much of a hassle at all and it appears to be working. Added benefit when you upgrade to 16.4.1: 27 new emoji. Can life get any better?

I'm more interested to know the estimated battery level @ destination - I don't need charge planning stops - I need the highly accurate (not kidding) battery estimate at my destination - if this does not provide that information it's dead to me - and I'm back to using the built-in PCM navigation…

I don’t know how accurate it is, but the Apple Maps now provides that. See my picture. It comes from Porsche so, if Porsche is accurate, this will be accurate. Porsche has always been accurate for me.

thanks for this update- I would guess it's coming from the car - if it provides this then we are good to go - thank you for following up!

I recently stopped using Waze in favor of Apple Maps. I found Waze to be a bit glitchy in my area, not loading, blank screen, etc. I haven't had any issues with Apple Maps. Apple Maps are, at least for me, much more reliable and accurate.

Do they show speed and red light cameras?

How about rerouting due to traffic?

Do they support dynamic location reporting of police?

if it can do this, I would consider changing. On my next long trip, I may run Waze and Apple simultaneously to get the best of both worlds.

Radar and Laser detector are legal everywhere except VA (Sorry DC fam) and Mississippi . Radar and Laser JAMMING are wildly and incredibly illegal everywhere. You do not want to get caught with a radar jammer, pretty likely you will be going to jail or paying a large fine to the FCC.

Cops will know absolutely instantly if you have either though. Every single car they hit with laser locks on in half a second and yours doesn't? they'll know.
