My car has new front brake discs and calipers and at high speed I notice friction noise coming from the front. I read that new cars come with regen disabled to bed in the new brakes. Is it possible to disable the regen from PCM?

I expect there is a way for the mechanic who fitted the brakes to tell the PCM it has new brakes in the same way you can specify wheels/tyres.

In my GTS under normal setting regen is disabled by default. Not sure if it's just gts but there is a button on steering wheel to disable or enable on demand

OP is asking about braking recup. Not overrun recup.

That button only controls regen when you take your foot off the accelerator. When you hit the brake, a computer decides how much regen vs physical brakes is applied, unaffected by your regen setting.

No, but if your dealer can't help, you could do the following hack, at your own risk. Drive to the top of a long hill on a highway with little traffic. Accelerate up to high speed. Put the car in neutral and apply the brakes hard. Put it back in drive. Repeat a few times. There is no braking regen in neutral. Don't say I told you to do this.

regen is an integrated part of the Taycan's braking system - there is no way to _DISABLE_ regen - the button on the steering wheel controls what amount of regen you get from lifting off the accelerator pedal - it has nothing to do with the amount of regen mixed in when using the brake pedal - when you touch the brakes on the Taycan the braking system computers decide what amount of regen/friction braking is required to meet the Current conditions - the exact mix of regen/friction braking will vary based on circumstance/conditions/battery-soc many many other factors…

you can neither cause regen to happen or prevent it from happening - you can only request level of braking pressure/deceleration via the brake pedal - after that Porsche's software takes over and mixes the elements as it sees fit to do so…

you have no control over this aspect of the vehicle.

Why would anyone want to disable regenerative braking? Recovering energy that would otherwise be lost to heat, and saving on brake wear are significant advantages of EV's.

New brakes, need some breaking-in period. User manual states cars need up to 600mile with disabled regen after new brake pads are installed. Some Taycans have regen disabled at delivery for first few hundred miles. Mine came with regen enabled, but you can find people on this forum who had their regen disabled for the first 1000km or more.

Thanks, this might fix it. The appointment at dealer is in 3 weeks.

Just temporary, probably the pads are touching the discs and at high speed there's a friction noise cming from the front.

Have you tried a few high speed hard braking stops ( in a safe place of course). That should bring in some good scrubbing of your pads and discs. The brake regen is only active up to a certain deceleration and then the physical brakes get activated.

Disabling regenerative braking isn’t going to make the noise go away, as that’s a different type of braking, independent of the brake pads.

I’d do exactly as @Scandinavian recommended. After that, if the friction brakes are still dragging, take it back to the shop. Calipers/pads do stick, though I doubt that’s your issue.

How many miles does the car have? It seems odd anyone would need to change their brake pads on a Taycan this soon, unless they’re spending time on a race track.
