The Pre heating of the car doesn`t heat the battery pack other than temperature increase because of charging (if car connected to power).Another thing I want to mention, pre heating is setup a bit too aggressive (in my opinion), I find heating up the battery to 30 degress Celsius is a bit too much and a waste of energy. Also, it appears the car wants to pre heat for 30 minutes (?) or so. Next time I will do this manually and I think 5-10 minutes should be just fine.
Mine does, I've tried it. with and without plugged in. It uses a lot of power but heating up 500kg of cold battery is bound to, even an hour only adds a bit of heat but better for performance as soon as you set off.The Pre heating of the car doesn`t heat the battery pack other than temperature increase because of charging (if car connected to power).
it was a bit hairy tonight. But it just goes. only issue is you can't see where are the curbs. so still can't go crazy.Living in a northern climate, this was a genuine concern for me prior to the purchase. We outfitted our 4S with Nokian Hakk R5 EV on 20” wheels. I haven’t driven on Hakk’s for about 25 years so I forgot how good they were. We haven’t had a lot of snow yet in Toronto but the little we had, the car was amazing and much better than I thought or hoped. My Model S has Michelin X-Ice on but to me the Nokians are better in my two most important metrics (snow/ice performance and road noise).
Mine does heat up as well with Pre heat. Tested that in Norway in minus 20C. It does not heat it up as much as going to a charging station, but certainly improves the initial consumption. It did draw a lot of power from the battery though, but I could plug in on AC afterwards while having lunch. Set the preheat on twice at least. Interesting to watch with CarScanner is how much power actually goes into the battery while on 11 kW charger and preheat on. That heater is powerful so no wonder they can failThe Pre heating of the car doesn`t heat the battery pack other than temperature increase because of charging (if car connected to power).
Only wat to heat the battery is to enter a charging destination in the Nav system.

Did you have a chance to see the battery temperature before you turned on pre heat? 7 to 8 hours in -27 should have cooled the battery a lot I believe.Strange?
After leaving the garage at home in the morning (batt. temp around 13 degrees and 85%).
After 7-8 hours at work in -27 degrees, I used Pre heat (no charging).
Car was good and warm, but battery temp. was -2 degrees.
I pre conditioned this morning and rear window defrosting was activated. I will check again to be shire.
Thought I've seen all possible winter problems already but doors have always worked well. However:I have a Taycan 4S in Upstate NY, and have only had one significant problem...frozen doors.
The doors will open, but not close. The solution has been to warm up the door.
I have the Pirelli EV snows and I love them.
