Another thing I want to mention, pre heating is setup a bit too aggressive (in my opinion), I find heating up the battery to 30 degress Celsius is a bit too much and a waste of energy. Also, it appears the car wants to pre heat for 30 minutes (?) or so. Next time I will do this manually and I think 5-10 minutes should be just fine.
The Pre heating of the car doesn`t heat the battery pack other than temperature increase because of charging (if car connected to power).
Only wat to heat the battery is to enter a charging destination in the Nav system.

Mine does, I've tried it. with and without plugged in. It uses a lot of power but heating up 500kg of cold battery is bound to, even an hour only adds a bit of heat but better for performance as soon as you set off.
With a cold battery the car has noticably poorer performance IME even though acceleration isn't usually a big thing for me personally.

That Taycan is great on snow for the type of vehicle it is, but it’s no off-roader. Its biggest limitation is ground clearance, and the lack of a low friction launch mode (at least on my non-CT Taycan) is also a minor downside.

I wouldn’t say the Taycan is suited for “extreme” winter driving ;)

Living in a northern climate, this was a genuine concern for me prior to the purchase. We outfitted our 4S with Nokian Hakk R5 EV on 20” wheels. I haven’t driven on Hakk’s for about 25 years so I forgot how good they were. We haven’t had a lot of snow yet in Toronto but the little we had, the car was amazing and much better than I thought or hoped. My Model S has Michelin X-Ice on but to me the Nokians are better in my two most important metrics (snow/ice performance and road noise).

it was a bit hairy tonight. But it just goes. only issue is you can't see where are the curbs. so still can't go crazy.

Mine does heat up as well with Pre heat. Tested that in Norway in minus 20C. It does not heat it up as much as going to a charging station, but certainly improves the initial consumption. It did draw a lot of power from the battery though, but I could plug in on AC afterwards while having lunch. Set the preheat on twice at least. Interesting to watch with CarScanner is how much power actually goes into the battery while on 11 kW charger and preheat on. That heater is powerful so no wonder they can fail

The problems I reported earlier (parking sensor malfunction & 1 of the 2 charge ports not opening) were gone the next day. This was when temperatures were still below 0 'C. Just mentioning it here, to have a fair statement on the record.

It would be fun to reverse engineer the Porsche algoritm for heating up the battery (to 30 'C in my case). That was when I had set the timer to charge to 90%. Maybe that is what triggers my car to assume I am in for a longer drive, and then it decides to pre-heat the battery a bit more than usual.

I have had lots of sensor problems but they all seem to be related to icing and not specifically temperatures.

Strange?
After leaving the garage at home in the morning (batt. temp around 13 degrees and 85%).
After 7-8 hours at work in -27 degrees, I used Pre heat (no charging).
Car was good and warm, but battery temp. was -2 degrees.

Did you have a chance to see the battery temperature before you turned on pre heat? 7 to 8 hours in -27 should have cooled the battery a lot I believe.

I have a Taycan 4S in Upstate NY, and have only had one significant problem...frozen doors.
The doors will open, but not close. The solution has been to warm up the door.
I have the Pirelli EV snows and I love them.

Thought I've seen all possible winter problems already but doors have always worked well. However:
- the door windows don't work well as a tiny amount of ice will cause the window hump up-dn-up-dn... This can cause door closing problems if it's not in perfect sync with the glass
- the wide rims are collecting all the loose snow from the road and packing between rim and the brake caliper. Problem starts when part of this packed snow rim escapes..
- parking brakes are freezing most of times. 1st of January 4S was dragged reluctantly on a flatbed with blocked rear wheels
- understeering with the mass of Taycan can be massive
- braking with wide tires and ABS on loose snow can be worse than braking with regeneration and mild braking
There are good points too but I don't remember those now while driving an Audi A3 with a bit more cc's than my bike but less power! Waiting our 'local' dealer (260 km away) to change 'on board charger' and what ever else that comes up..

BTW the Audi started also talking about low battery charging and starting system malfunctions.
It has also rattling doors and slightly freezing parking brakes so most of the VAG heritage present.
-24 C here now.
