... in fact the app sends you to their website where you can select your car / destinations and other parameters. It includes chargers from other networks too.

Pretty clean design, not sure how accurate it is.

Two nice features : it gives you the elevation and consumption all the way (depending of speed limit (?) / elevation (?)). You can select any point on the road to have "instant" values.

I'll give it a try next time.

15,7 kWh/100 km seems quite optimistic for such a trip.

when driving through the mountains I also used Pump. It shows total elevation and descent over a segment. In the mountains this was useful info.

I have never managed to get the Ionity app to work, logon never recognises password and email link for requesting password reset results in a plain blue screen (maybe because I don't use a phone for email).
Life is too short to deal with password frustration.
OTOH I haven't been past an Ionity charger when i needed it on any journey yet.
I deleted the app.

that's an instant value when selecting a point on the curve.
Consumption increases when reaching Gotthard tunnel (in this example) and decreases when going down after.
It looks like some kind of average, perhaps taking into account the speed limits too

Interesting update, thanks for sharing. I have just completed a long trip of about 2500 km total. But not with the Taycan as it was broken once again. But another EV. So I entered the trip into Ionity app the way I did drive and charge. The results from the planner was quite accurate and suggested charging stops as I have actually used. I used some hotel and lunch stop charging that eliminated a few Ionity stations. Looked a good planner for the stops though. Since the weather changes and depending on speed there are some variables though.

Most inteserstin though was that I could easily transfer the Route and charging stops to Apple Maps. All stops were included, which will be interesting to try out on the return trip.

on your last point, indeed, and it works well on Google Maps too.

That is using the chargetrip service, which interestingly Porsche has had on this page since Taycan launch:

https://www.porsche.com/international/aboutporsche/e-performance/

I think Porsche use it there more as a "sales tool" than a day-to-day planner. But it is using the same SaaS backend as IONITY.
From the porsche app, you can do route planning also, and it uses it as far as I know. And it preconditions the battery for charging also like that, it also prioritizes fast charging / very short stops and recalculates based on live road and car data.

I use it very often actually - mostly because i love the map behind the wheel, works great. But for the car to receive the route while sending it, it needs to be somwhere with access to internet.

Once sent, you receive the route when you start the car / open the built in maps.

I think most people don't use it, because the UI in the app is horrible. You select a destination, there's a massive red button with: send destination to vehicle, which doesn't use the service. And very small next to the big red button there's a very small grey square calculate route button - which does proper route calculation. But it does actually work great. 2000km trip through italy, no problems with it

Technically it will do a route recalculation in the PCM when you send the route to the car. However, if you are detailed with your stops in the app route (and have searched for them via the "charging filter") then it will in almost all cases re-calculate the same route as the app did.

But – annoyingly – it is not guaranteed.

Yes, that is correct. Marking some stops in between is good. But again, another good working feature that Porsche has that is made worse by the, how people on this forum call it, "excellent PCM that works just fine" :)

From the porsche app, you can do route planning also,
I once found a 30% difference in estimated battery consumption between A Better Route Pianner and the Porsche app. The latter was wrong and I stopped using it. On closer inspection it was because there was a storm while I was planning and ABRP had correctly allowed for strong headwinds in most of the route.

I have had the exact opposite experience; nothing has been as precise as the actual porsche map / route planning and charge estimations (in europe) - it does re-adjust route and charging points depending on conditions and how you drive quite often though. Overall, i am very pleased with it... minus shit car reception and slow responsiveness of the in-car map.

To me it also makes sense that a baked in app with access to consumption, speed, and car settings would be more precise. Out of all the EVs i tried, porsche's guess-o-meter was the most precise.

I second this, I find the Porsche route planning very accurate. I used it for all my longer trips where charge stops are required.

Agree the My Porsche app on the phone is very inaccurate. I have been talking to a the support guys at many occasions about the use of the app. It is as you say at least 30% incorrect. Sometimes it has been far too optimistic with the range the car should be driving to next station. It was a total catastrophe last winter when planning a route to Norway In minus 10 to 20C. Real range was less than half of what the app predicted.
