Re charging, 3a Choose a Tesla Universal Wall Connector. (And don’t worry about the CEO, since he’ll be enriching himself at our collective expense over the next four years regardless of your EVSE purchase.)
Sounds like a lot of people have the Tesla charger with very few complaints

Do you plan to use the Taycan for road trips? If so find a PB+ car. Adaptive cruise control is also recommended for long distance drives.

Other than this consideration, seeing that you are familiar with Porsche (and general Porsche options), many are carry over from other models (e.g. ionizer, passenger display, trim materials), so just play with the 2025 configurator online as most options are the same.

Taycan unique options to consider:
- variable light control roof, rare option, fun party trick, important for hot climate cars
- PSCBs, rare for base and 4S cars. New braking tech, worry free maintenance, massive bragging rights
- 2+1, IMO no matter how small the center seat is. It's still critical
- 150kw/400v onboard DC charger - critical if you believe your most frequent fast charging will be at Tesla stations (Porsche still not open yet on Tesla). This allows the Taycan to charge at 150kw instead at 50kw at Tesla's outdated but prevalent 400v stations. Read this and debate.
- 20 and 21 inch wheel styles - unlike 911s, Cayennes, most owners don't own a 2nd set of OEM wheels, so the used marketplace is hard to find highly coveted 21 inch wheel styles, 19s and 20s are more common, so select the preferred style carefully

The price of a CPO base Taycan is becoming very attractive and I am strongly considering picking one up as my next car (moving from a Cayenne S). Decent mileage 2021 models seem to be the best value and many have the performance battery plus for better range and a bit more power. What are your thoughts on the value proposition here and anything to look out for in earlier generation years like 2021? Not new to Porsche but new to Taycan/EVs. Any must have/not have options? My primary use will be every day commuting to work which is a short drive (less than 10 miles) and general family car. Never owned an EV before but have the ability to install home charging so that wont be an issue. Appreciate any insight!
Phenomenal vehicle, Options are most important. Don’t bother driving a 4s or higher if you think a base is fine for your needs - anything above a 4s is a very different “power experience”

Base Taycans aren’t “slow” per se, but they’re kinda slow in the EV realm, particularly for a sports-oriented EV sedan.

Straight-line speed is only one aspect of course, but it might be worth taking into consideration…

Perhaps think about stretching to a 4S if at all possible…?

I have a 2021 rwd with big battery, brakes and Mission E wheels and love it. It may be the best deal of any Porsche. Plenty of power without being excessive, handling with rear motor and drive like a 911, steering and coil suspension also more like a 911.
PS: I don't always know the abbreviations you forum followers use.

Mine is similar and it IS pretty enjoyable!..good luck w/ yours!...repairs can be expensive and your warranty may be near an end (unless CPO)..so you might want to take a look at your options.

I am extending the warranty four years at about $1200 per year. I hope it is a waste of money but time will tell.
Sounds like you’re getting a vehicle service plan, not extending the warranty?
If so, such a payment can be a waste of money in two different ways, so let’s hope it’s the good way! (Same hope with my recent purchase of such a plan.)

I am buying the plan from Porsche and so I am hoping that it will cover all the same things that the original warranty covered. Is that your understanding of the so-called Service plan?

A service plan and warranty should be two separate things. The service plan will cover the annual maintenance for the vehicle which, in the case of the Taycan, is essentially nothing. The warranty is what will cover you if something breaks. I would definitely get clarity from the dealer on exactly what you are purchasing so you are not surprised!

Do not get scammed on this as Service plan vs. Extended Warranty are two different things.

Which plan?
Sounds like the plan that is branded by Porsche and sold via independently owned Porsche dealerships but has contract language that is clearly between you and Safe-Guard, with no involvement by PCNA.
I still decided to buy it, but without any illusions that it is “from Porsche” or any type of extended warranty.

Different types of plans are available to purchase that cover either regular maintenance or unanticipated repairs.
For the latter, based on comments at both this forum and Facebook groups many purchasers apparently never get beyond reading the part that has Porsche at the top.
