When I asked if a lemon was consider branded under the extended warranty, the Porsche Sales guys said:

"Hi , Porsche did get back to me and we can not offer you coverage unfortunately."
That is also what my dealership told me. I cannot speak to the subcategorizations of "branded" titles and whether ours are truly "lemons," "salvaged," etc. Didn't even know they had such delineations.

Welp, it’s official. Just finalized purchasing the 10 year / 75k miles extended warranty after confirming with two more dealership that it’s good to go. So that makes it 4 dealerships that confirmed lemon title doesn’t matter.

If you’re having trouble with your dealership, try contacting others. There were lots of misinformation that was shared throughout this process of contacting multiple dealerships (e.g. the warranty works internationally when in fact it doesn’t) so it’s very likely that many dealerships are misinformed or just don’t know.

UPDATE: Porsche sales director of PPP confirmed lemon titles not eligible for the extended warranty

That's fantastic, congratulations!

Take all of this as posters looking out for your best interests rather than questioning you...

But do you have that in writing, exactly as you wrote here?

If so, enjoy it.

If not, be careful. Now is the time to let your head rule your heart. A "bargain" now could turn into a nightmare later.

BTW...when does your extended warranty run from and to?

A 2023 car should have std factory warranty until 2026 (am assuming the US get the same 3yrs as we do in the UK).

If the std factory warranty is not covering the car until it's 3rd birthday, could that not put it in the "new car warranty voided" category?

It all sounds murky to me. A 10k saving sounds decent, but it's still 85k at risk ? I would be insisting on 100% unambiguous wording that the car is covered both with it's factory warranty and the extended product, in writing from both dealer and warranty company. They should be 100% happy to do so. If not, ask yourself why.

I made this same decision two days ago on a 2023 base Taycan. Porsche North America had bought the car back from the original owner after 14 months and 7k miles. I bought it from a dealer that specializes in such “reacquired” vehicles. Had never heard about this segment of the used car business, but after researching decided I was feeling lucky and the car is absolutely pristine. The dealer also has good reviews and was very professional. I got an essentially brand new car for about 50% off original sticker. Definitely some risk, but the legal protections are pretty strong. I wouldn’t have done it, though, if I couldn’t handle the downside scenario. So far, I am very happy with the decision. Hoping it lasts!

Sounds like a great deal!

The other reason to contact multiple dealership for the vehicle service plan (not a warranty!) is that the price can vary by thousands of dollars, so a few relatively painless emails can save a lot (even though it's the same Safe-Guard plan with the Porsche co-branding).
Even the bargaining can be pretty easy. My home dealer came in way over the lowest price I had received from another dealer, so I just asked if my home dealer could match that price, and indeed they did.

It's not a warranty, despite how it's often referred to as such.
Instead it's a vehicle service plan (for repairs, not maintenance), via a third-party company, co-branded by Porsche, and sold via independently owned Porsche dealerships.
The standard factory warranty is not voided by a buyback, and the third-party service plan kicks in after that.

Just for others pondering, but in the UK you can pretty much buy a non-storied used car from a Porsche dealer for close to 50% off "sticker".

The key comparator is how much similar optioned 7k miles cars sell for.

How much of a further discount one needs to assume the risk is an individual choice. But you're taking the right approach - accept worst case and then just enjoy it.

Oh yes absolutely, thanks for all that!
I did double check the contract, basically read through it word-by-word and as someone also posted here the fine prints clearly mentions which branded titles are excluded and 'lemon' is not one of them.
As someone also said, I don't think getting it in separate writing does anything legally as the contract is what that matters. The dealership selling the extended warranty basically is responsible for making sure the vehicle is eligible, otherwise it's a misrepresentation of the product. I think that's good enough for me.

Sounds like a great deal!

Yes, absolutely shop around! My local dealer quoted me $7833 + tax = $8663.29 while I found a dealer that quoted $6,524 and no tax (even though the dealership was in CA) for the 10 year / 75k mile option.
I got another dealer to match that price and bought it.

The challenging part was actually having dealerships reply to me. I contacted more than dozens of dealerships and got ghosted by many by email & phone. You need to talk to the finance department and they simply don't pick up the phone or don't call you back after you leave a message. I actually wanted to get more quotes but just ended up purchasing it because I didn't want to wait longer and have tariffs impact the pricing.

^ Yes, same here, quite a few dealerships were nonresponsive. Even though selling one of these Safe-Guard plans entails some sort of profit for nearly zero effort, and zero risk, and zero inventory cost.

Heads up for everyone.
This somehow got escalated to the director of sales for PPP because there was a lot of misinformation out there.
They confirmed that lemon vehicles are NOT eligible for Porsche Protection Products unfortunately.
I don't know the legality of it since the contract as it reads does not exclude lemon vehicles, but I don't wanna go that route. I'll be requesting a refund for the extended warranty that was purchased.

That sucks. I was about to investigate again.
I guess it’s better to know now then after a rejected claim. I think it may be an accounting kind of thing. A lemon seems to be completely written off by Porsche so they take the loss on the books. Maybe the PPP puts it back on their books in a way that breaks there accounting rules.

Yeah anyways that was pretty much the official Porsche's response but in terms of the legality I'm pretty sure this wouldn't work out well for Porsche because the contract doesn't exclude lemon.
A part of me wants to just keep this warranty and fight it out when it comes to it because the contract is very clear. But then it's still probably not worth it.

Dang sorry to hear. So does that mean your car is completely out of warranty or does the original warranty is still in effect?
