Minor Hate - Daily annoyances that make me unhappy

1. Ingress and egress. I despise getting in and out of this car, something that has only worsened over time. Exacerbating the problem, I have to manually move the wheel forward and seat back when I get out, and reverse when I get in. (I've programmed seat memory buttons 2 and 3 for this purpose.). So annoying.
2. The PCM. I realized the other day I haven't had radio issues in a while...and I also realized it's because I've given up on playing music or podcasts in the PCM, and I just use Carplay. The only thing I use the PCM for is the map, which works reasonably well, except....
   1. Why does the map warn me about wrong-way driving that is happening miles and miles away?
   2. Why does the map tell me alternate routes are available, without presenting a way to select one?
   3. Why does the map think every single place in the world is a "restricted access route?"
   4. Why is sending a destination from the phone such a hit-or-miss proposition?

Super Hate - Issues that make me want to send it directly to the crusher

1. When I do the "Taycan Squeeze" to get in, and my key (in pocket) contacts the steering wheel, opening the frunk. This makes me so angry and it happens multiple times per week. My mother-in-law's Hyundai has a phone key FFS, why do I still need this stupid fob??
2. Sometimes when approaching the car, the door handles open up, anticipating my arrival...then the second I go to reach for the handle they snap shut with "chirp chirp!" Tugging on the handle won't open it and I have to get out my stupid keyfob - like an animal - and unlock it. I genuinely feel the car is doing it on purpose and laughing at me.

Comfort entry seat and wheel moved as advertised in mine, but I switched it off to minimise wear and tear and avoid crushing passengers.
I don't have the automatic unlocking, I just use the keyfob buttons but have once found the front lid unlatched, presumably accidental pressure in my pocket.

All sat nav is a poor advertisement for AI IMO. I am 75 and spent most of my life using maps and I have yet to find a sat nav which sorts out a good route, some better than others all disappointing.

If you got a 3 then you'd hate no central drivers' display, no indicator stalks and doing pretty everything through a screen single. And you'd have to look at it

I was researching the 3rd party display, but I'm worry that it will only last a period of time due to software updates.

It's stupid that Tesla rather install a second display in the back, but not in front of the driver.

You can configure the steering wheel optional button (diamond marking by left thumb) up as a next track button.

Not quite fast forward but pretty close.

Great post - made me smile. Agree with so much.

- I hate that the app states it's up to date, and then clicking on the little car icon it also states it was updated many hours ago. And it can take many refreshes until it actually does update. What a PITA crappy bit of code.

- Comfort access does the opposite of what it should. Ie, makes it harder. This because of the position of the b-pillar in relation to the door and seat. Everyone loves my Taycan and they all hate getting in and out.

- Massive hate reminder last weekend was the satnav and the inability to rename a saved address. WTF - my 2005 BMW had a more intuitive address book! I can't see how anyone thought searching by address rather than a name was a good idea.

- Hate that I can't fast forward / rewind a track. I needs buttons on the wheel to toggle though media, then FF / RW (which would also change DAB station). My Golf 7.5 nailed the wheel buttons.

- I want vents I can move with my finger and a rotary dial to tun on and off.

Love driving the car though and it looks wonderful too.

Points taken, but let me add another perspective --

• App has always been slow, but has gotten faster recently.
• Comfort access doesn't work well for me due to the B-pillar. The J1.II Taycan has a similar problem, but at least can raise the car up 3 inches using "Active Ride Easy Entry".
• I don't use the Porsche Navigation much except to pre-heat on long drives so no comment. My "go-to" navigation is Apple Maps 90% of the time.
• As someone else suggested, I've added a Next Track button on the steering wheel using the programmable bottom there.
• I'm one of those who loves the ventilation on the Taycan. I love that I can direct the air basically anywhere and adjust speed individually for each vent. This is by far the most comfortable ventilation system I've ever used.

Total agree on the wonderful driving capability of the car. Also, just a few days ago I had three different people comment on how beautiful the Taycan is (and the car is now 4 years old).

How about never remembering that i like regen’ in normal mode? I’m forced to select it every frikking time! WTF Porsche? Imposing YOUR opinion on me, your customer, is flat wrong.

In the J1.II car the car will remember the Regen setting. I take this as a good sign that Porsche is listening.

I use the spare steering wheel button for regen.
Thought about a FF button, but I listen to DAB and want to change stations in both directions, not just forward.

I couldn't get an ex demo in the spec I wanted and at the right price with active ride. Shame, would have been good and easier to get in and out.

One thing I've never figured out is how to get the wi-fi hotspot to work.
When I get in the car, my phone connects to the car's wi-fi pretty much instantly, and Carplay is almost instant too.
However, the phone itself cannot access any online content. And if my kids connect to the car's wifi, they can't get online either.
I suspect this is user error and I need to watch some YouTube this weekend.

Have you paid for the Porsche wifi internet hotspot access?

I use the steering wheel regen button for regen.... Use the configurable button for advance a track. Lack of proper music controls on the wheel is a huge oversight.

The refreshed Taycan (J1.2) has removed the regen button for a track forward button on the wheel.

And as I posted elsewhere, the J1.2 refresh has the ability to lock your regen mode setting in the Settings (saw that when using a loaner from the dealer). That might not work for everybody, but it works for me. Of course I don’t have a J1.2 so I can't take advantage of that feature now. ?

I just wanted to drop in and say I love my Taycan. Best car I've driven. Android Auto is great and connects instantly. Range is decent even on a TS driven spritedly. Love the handling and recently got a tune so it goes even faster. Seat moves back when I turn the car off and I don't have a problem getting out or in because I'm not fat or a pensioner with restricted mobility...I don't know what that whinge is all about?

Whilst I don't want this to become an echo chamber, there's a lot of negativity on this forum that really could do with being kept to oneself.

Ah, I see we remain two great nations separated by a common language. I had to look that word up ?

I agree on most of your points. Internet forums tend to be places where people go to complain rather than to talk up the things they’re happy about. However, I think we’ve been pretty balanced in general on this forum.

I also want to express some sympathy for those who struggle to get in and out of the Taycan. I had to work this out myself in the beginning and now it’s really no big deal but comfort access didn’t work at all for me and I’m sure everybody has a different body type.

I also love driving this car. Like all of you I have to deal with some PCM issues now and then, but for whatever reason I’m not plagued by bigger problems. I feel a real sense of happiness every time I open the door, sit down, and drive off. It is by far the most enjoyable driving experience I’ve ever had. If that weren’t enough, it’s also fun to get the reaction of other people to what is truly a beautiful car. After four years, I still have people stop me to talk about my car.
