I have the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff and used to use the Octopus app to control the charging. I had the Taycan added as a device. I stopped using it about a year ago as it wasn't that reliable. I had Porsche Connect at the time.

Octopus have started doing free electricity hours so I thought I'd try it again but when I try to add the car as a device it fails. However, I didn't renew Porsche Connect last November because the car was in the OPC for a few weeks for a charger replacement and when I got it back I didn't really miss Connect so didn't renew.

Does anyone know if the device control on the Octopus app relies on a Porsche connect subscription ?

I guess the other possibilities is I have the connection issues others seem to be having.

Yes, Octopus and Ovo both together with others send and receive data to the Porsche servers via Enode's API. The data is then synced with the car and the App so a Connected Services subscription is required

As others have said you need Porsche Connect to do what you're trying. However, which EVSE (wall box) do you have? - if it's supported by Octopus (I have a MyEnergi Zappi) then add that instead of the car.

When I got my Taycan last year I tried to charge using integration with the car but like you found it unreliable. Letting Octopus control the wall box instead has been perfect.

I have an Andersen A2 which I don't think is compatible.

I'll manage without the free electricity. No point paying £300+ for porsche connect in order to get a few pounds of free electricity.

It's definitely a mixed blessing - if I plug my car in during these 'free' sessions I'm pumping electricity from my solar panels into the car instead of exporting it to the grid, so net I lose.

My Porsche connect has just ran out last night, only had the car 3 months now, feels odd with out it.
Shame that I have there " Porsche Mobile Charger Connect" which uses wifi, but i've not worked out how to get Octopus to control that if, it can.

Maybe I’m doing it wrong but I’ve octopus go and a Hypervolt charger. I just set the Hypervolt to charge 11.30pm to 5.30am everyday and just plug it in the evenings it needs charging.
I’ve also got a Mini Cooper2 EV and can’t have two cars registered on octopus

Disconnect your Porsche from the Octopus app, then add the Hypervolt charger as the 'device', not the car.
