Hmmm. My Vin and production date falls within the recall, but There's nothing when I checked Porsche's site or NHTSA recall page.
Sometimes your dealer service may have more accurate info. Check with him.

Is the TLDR that we need to get our vehicle into the dealer ASAP? Does anyone know of any other thermal incidents since the recall? I've still be charger to 100%.

My dealer locally I don't have the most confidence into actually fix problems, so has not been high priority. But alarmists on the forum please let me know if I'm being stupid and need to get my vehicle in.

At this point both ARB6 and ARB7 have been resolved for me via OTA updates. The ARB7 was OTA was on 3/22/25 and the ARB6 was last week (7/25 or 7/26).

Not sure what thread people are reading regarding ARB6 and ARB7, so I'm adding my most recent post from here to this thread too.

------------------------------------
When I got back from a trip my 4s told me there was an OTA update available. I followed the instructions (I thought), but after 3 tries the install hadn’t worked. I would get this spinning disc view, but when I exited and locked the car nothing happened.

Finally, I went to the Settings > Air Conditioning and turned Precool/heat to OFF. This seems to have done the trick, and the update installed.

Going to the NHTSA database I no longer see any recalls on my VIN.

Is there a way to "pull" the OTA update? I am ARB6 and have software updates enabled but have not seen anything pop up yet in my vehicle.

My OTA worked just, and on the first try.
Only until now did I think to check the recall website.
I had thought maybe the continued monitoring meant it was still under the recall?
But indeed my VIN is now cleared, yay!
So, at least for my personally, this recall consisted of:
  1. At first, taking no actions, other than reading all the posts here about the recall, if that counts as action.
  2. Enabling the OTA update.

A good question, and I'm not sure if there is a way to "Pull" the update. In case you didn't see it, these are the instructions I received via email on 7/15/25.

You need to check whether you’re Included in the ARB6 or ARB7 recall. Then you’ll know what to do.

Start by going to https://www.nhtsa.gov/. Enter your VIN or License Plate, and see what they say.

If you have never received a recall letter, you might have a battery that is unaffected by ARB6 and ARB7 (lucky you 😀).

If you are just now becoming aware of the issue, and it does affect your car, I wouldn't panic, but the recommendation is to reduce your max SOC when charging to 80%, and take it into the dealer for inspection. All of the new software can be installed at that time and you should be good to go.

To be totally honest, I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised by OTA capabilities for Taycans. I recently realized they already had the OTA capability to reprogram the HV battery controller 2 years ago, even 3 years ago for updating the onboard charger! See the attachment of this post #23, check out OTA Campaigns ONA51 (updating onboard charger) in June 2022, and WNW21 (updating HV battery controller) in April 2023.

So it seem Porsche was just shy using this capability, probably only using it on most time critical campaigns.

PS> My car was ARB7 (technically still is, until the appropriate databases are updated) but no OTA came. As the car was at the dealer earlier this week for something else, they performed ARB7 recall while there, but also told me that the ARB7 recall could not be done over-the-air as the car required HV battery check before applying the new software. Assuming they were correct, this might be why my car never got this update over-the-air. They could also be wrong though, perhaps just interpreting the ARB7 description.

The only OTA (outside of app updates, like Calendar or Weather) that ever came to my car in the last 2.5 years was WRW11 - it applied sucessfully, but I had to follow the instructions, for example I had to shut my car off with the button and wait, something I usually never do as I typically exit with the car still ON, and the car turns itself OFF when I lock it - apparently this mode of use will not apply the OTA (why???).

This is a long thread so I did not check every post, but figure I'd ask -- ya'll get to a lot of these?

I've gotten 2 voicemails and 2 emails over the past few months. I checked my VIN on porsche website and no recall.

Did you check NHTSA if it shows your car having the recall?
https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

Beware of scams too. Theoretically some scammers could identify Porsche owners (who likely have money, so present a good potential target) from recall databases, which are are public information.

Improved mileage and overall capacity seems to be the case for me.

Took a trip yesterday up to the Cascade Loop Highway and did some hiking. Round-trip mileage was 153 and I averaged 3.6 mi./kW. During some highway stretches I was getting 4.5 mile/kW.

Does the new software force an SOC limit of 80%? What about when your taking long trips and need every bit of the batteries capacity? 20% is something like 45 miles in warm climates. That's usually the buffer I set for my range when looking to recharge. If I have to shave another 45 miles off, I'll be looking to recharging every 160 miles, give or take. That changes the dynamic and probably makes the car an around town only car. As it is, the Taycan was already barely meeting a range I felt comfortable with for a longer drive.

If the battery has issues, yes, it will force an 80%, and some time later if not brought to service, a further limit of 50%

@chun @eddieterry

Thanks for that. That’s reassuring. If a fault IS detected, I doubt I’d recharge it before taking it back to the dealer. Only if I was in the middle of a trip would I not.
