Remember only the PCM can precondition the battery. That can make a real difference in charging performance.

Yes that is really the worst thing. I hope my favourite charging stations will still be in the system though. It is a bummer that the automatic preconditioning will not work, but work around would be to get into sport plus mode and get closer to ideal temperature. I have cancelled both the Porsche Charging service as well as theConnect service. My navigation system has not worked properly since summer, so I am normally using CarPlay anyway. And Porsche’s refusal to implement manual precondition is just laughable.

I haven’t functionality in my app at all now so it is just like any older car. 300 Euro per year is not much, I can agree, but the benefit of it is wasted on me.

Living in S Florida, I really appreciate pre-cooling the car while out and about. I set up a shortcut on my Apple Watch Ultra so all I need to do is hit the action button 5-10 minutes before I get to my car. Over-priced for sure, but worth it for me.

i had this twice in my 2025, what happens is that the car losses the "cellular data", so it can't communicate, if you logout it wont let you log back in, and there is no way to bypass that with connecting to a wifi network.
So navi satellite view, traffic, youtube, weather, and status update to the app wont work.

I have this problem and mine goes in Friday. I also have a very wet trunk which they beleive is caused by a leaky pano roof seal which then caused the tailgate not to function....not good as the pano roof needs to come off!!

But you have a 1.2 right? Didn't the facelift come with 8 or 10 years with Porsche Connect? I remember something about it..

The 8-10 year things is the support - i.e updates/maintenance to PCM.

You get 3 years free connect subscription included on new purchase of the car. - once it expires, you renew monthly/yearly.

I lived without for a few months but then needed the remote heating for the baby.

I'm 2 months in without paying the subscription and only missed one thing, the ability to pre-heat in the cold. It just meant I had to walk to the car on my drive, sit in and manually set pre-heat. I typically charge from home when I get out of the car and see I'm getting low. I use waze for sat nav and can't think of anything else I had before that I miss. If it was £100 a year I would probably go for it but don't see the value even though as some people have said - it is a £150k car

I let my subscription lapse after 4 years. The only thing I miss is not being able to pre-heat/pre-cool the car. Like the OP, this isn't worth much more than around £100 a year to me. The other drawback is it's now moved to a monthly subscription instead of an annual one.

Porsche should really consider annual options.
I would much prefer to pay once a year and stop thinking about it, as I do for my wife’s Tesla.

I purchased my 2022 Taycan GTS in February 2024. In August of this year the included-with-purchase Porsche Connect services expired. The service is $26.49/month ($317.88/year) plus tax on connect-store.porsche.com, with no discounts available that I could find. I decided to let the service expire, and if I couldn't live without it, I could purchase it anytime.

I'm a techy guy, so I did use the Porsche app on my phone to check battery state, lock/unlock the car, etc. The monthly battery usage and efficiency data was interesting, but in typical Porsche fashion, not as configurable or useful as the data Tesla provides in their app. I've now lived without it for roughly three months... and it's not so bad. On perhaps one or two occasions I was in my garage and wanted to unlock the car but didn't have my key. Walked into the house and got my key. (Duh.) Not having charge info on my phone has left me stranded or short on battery... zero times. I plug in regularly and charge overnight light most of us.

I do miss the tech/cool-factor of not having a phone app for my car, but like many tech things, it's to some degree a gimmick. Like the app for my laundry machines. Do I really need a notification when the dryer is done? In conclusion, if Porsche Connect services cost $100/year or less, maybe it would be worth it for the phone app and the cool-factor. For $300+/year, it will remain a "pass" for me. As always, YMMV.

Pre-cooling and pre-heating are functions I use most days.

Finding the car in car parks has been helpful once or twice. (Though a Maps drop pin would probably be better if I remembered to do it!).

Remote park has got me out of scrapes several times (thanks to selfish twonks who love to park too close).

Remote locking has also been handy.

I also pair my car with my energy company for leveraging cheaper charge rates.

It's mildly irritating that they don't just include it for the "life" of the car, or with warranty etc. Especially given the cost of these things. This is typical of Porsche's approach with software. But on balance I renewed.

Well there can be a benefit of monthly subscriptions I have found out.

My subscription was due to end at the beginning of October month. But in October I had planned a long roadtrip for the west coast and northern parts of Spain. I opted to extend my subscription for one month and that worked fine. Got map updates, could preheat the car, could use the navigator for finding chargers, restaurants etc. And one month later the services stopped. Guess I can just turn them on agin the months I need the features. SInce I do not need my car as a daily it works out fine

To remotely check the SoC/charge level, there's some OBD2 scanner that claim to have LTE support. This would allow reading remotely the value from anywhere. Some claim to be compatible with the Taycan.
AFAIK none support an eSIM, they would need a physical SIM.
