I really don't understand why you're saying the CT is not a family car. It's a STATIONWAGON and huge. I haven't been in the new Macan's, but I've had EV and ICE ones and they're actually smaller cars. I bought this because I have kids and cart them around quite a bit, previously with car seats. I have a lot more room (in fact too much) than my previous cars (sedans and station wagons). Honestly, I wish it was a smaller car.

If it matters, I'm 54 and tall (5'10").
I have both, and although the sport Turismo is very versatile and functional and I manage to do all of family dad duties with it, the new Macan EV is meaningfully bigger than the ice Macan and indeed the Taycan sport Turismo The interior space is definitely more volume wise and functional in that regard not to mention ease of ingress/egress.
So a matter of priorities, I personally would not give up the Taycan, but can understand if someone’s needs or wants align better with the Macan.

I think it’s a family car. My wife does not agree with me

I had one as a loaner, didn't enjoy it. Leans too much, felt slow (vs my turbo s), brakes didn't feel as good. If you need the space it's ok, but otherwise I enjoy the taycan much more.

We have both, no doubt the Macan is a little easier as a daily driver for ingress/egress and does benefit from a retractable cloth shade for the glass roof. (I have a functioning VLC roof on my Taycan which has made a big difference for me in South Florida) after comparing to the regular glass roof on my Taycan loaners in the past.

We have the 4S and it most certainly knows how to get out of its own way! Perfect adjuct to a Taycan, although I myself can never be happy sitting up that high on a daily basis, and much prefer sitting down low as in the Taycan which I will do as long a my body allows me.

Otherwise, I agree that the Macan is great after some of the teething software problems were sorted and coming to terms with some cost cutting of materials in the interior when compared to the Taycan and even the previous gen Macan. Thankfully they can be easily ignored after some time as you start enjoying the many other benefits of the car.

Like @sergyindy, I have a GTS on order. We compared the turbo to our 2019 Cayenne S side-by-side at a dealership and found it was nearly identical in size. Price and increased size ruled out the new Cayenne EV. The GTS will replace the old Cayenne and be our daily “utility” vehicle alongside the Taycan.

I have the 4S CT and wife has the Macan EV 4S. Driven the loaner base and 4 and 4S is just right. Both can haul people and things but the Macan is more comfortable as a people and small dog(s) hauler. May not handle as well as my CT but it’s still fun to drive in Sport and + mode.
like nischair, the Macan is in Provence, too which is unique and don’t see this color too often.

On my third EV (and second Taycan).

I had a Macan 4S EV as a loaner, and looked at one seriously before deciding on a CPO Taycan CT Sport GTS.

Macan Pro's

In my mind, the gasoline powered Macan is the most fun to drive SUV on the market. Porsche has managed to keep the driving dynamics intact with the EV (steering precision, chassis balance, composure at speed... fundamentally, how quick and agile it feels for an SUV).

The 800V PPE charging and EV architecture is class-leading. Fast charging, efficient use of battery energy, and strong long-distance usability. *** it was this last point that almost sold me on the vehicle - much greater range than I had either with my Taycan Turbo or current CT GTS ***

The Macan EV is a year-round fun and practical vehicle. It rides comfortably, is quiet for an SUV, and has useful cargo and passenger space. It works wonderfully as a daily driver.

~~~
So why did I choose another Taycan? The move to a cross Turismo body style gave me all the functionality I really needed. With the seats flipped down, it is genuinely spacious.
The Taycan is a more sophisticated, quick and luxurious vehicle. Not surprising when you note that the MRSP on my CT GTS is almost double that of a Macan 4S -- you would hope that was the case!
~~~
One last point: I use my EV as a daily driver. It was a cold and snowy winter in the northeast. And the CT performed admirably. Would I have had more comfort, particularly in clearance terms, with the Macan? Of course. But I never got stuck and drove through some nasty snowstorms.

  • drive feel very close to Taycan, in terms of steering input and feel
I had a Macan 4 EV loaner for 6 weeks while waiting for parts and found it shockingly bad in comparison with my CT4S J1.2 PAR. Not just the negative impact of a higher center of gravity, but the mushiness of the suspension and the resulting lack of accuracy in mid to high speed curves are worlds away of the Taycan. Also disliked the driving position, too vertical/seated.

I understand the people who value the practicality elements - the Taycan is a huge car with no space - but this practicality come at a steep price in terms of handling integrity and poise which some seem a bit too quick to rationalize.
