For those who are going to select the $1,030 E-shift option (I will), been trying to learn as much as there is. The Porsche video in post # 77 and the Porsche press release are the best sources. I took the below two screen prints from that video.

Interestingly and imo this will probably not change, in the configurator is says the paddles are “Dark Sliver” — while one can still choose Neodyme as your interior metal trim color in addition to Dark Silver, the paddles will only, always come in the Dark Silver.

Looks really nice, and I would like the range and charging improvements but the cost to get a comparable new PTS with a similar spec of my current MY24 Turbo S is insane… well over $250k.

for me even the J1.1 is awesome, enjoy it every day and it works really well. Guessing J1.2 is same awesomeness for day to day use.

Ah, I'm really worried about the vision at Porsche. Instead of truly embracing the new EV tech and improving this, they just follow trends and are adding "emotive e-shift" so silly.

I wish they would instead return to Porsche engineering roots: think instead about cutting edge EV motors with higher efficiency (like lucid motors) or cutting edge battery tech (like latest catl 6min charging), or using 4 motors for better torque vectoring, finding ways to simplify without needing the gearbox etc.

And just put some engineers aside to keep improving the current software and enabling true OTA (instead of some new system every 3 years). It is not rocket science 😑

Ah well, in the meantime my 2020 j1.1 is absolutely awesome :D And I still love the design over the more recent ones 😍 I cannot think of any car i would like better than the j1.1 taycan.
Right on. My 2020 is what an EV is supposed to be. Plus I have a 911 Targa if I feel like pulling on paddles!!!

Interesting read of the 7 pages of discussion. Like a few of the posts struggling to see any changes apart from e-shift and PCM.

Interesting enough the paddles on my J1.2 GTS has a + and -. But one operates the Push to Pass (which is a lot more usable than the button option) and the left one Regeneration mode.

PCM was fine in J1.1 a little slow, and CarPlay was sometimes troublesome, better in the J1.2 but I not amazing (2025 version), but this does not concern me at all, Apple Carplay is so much better. My only irritation is the Lane Keep Assist defaults to on and is multiple clicks to turn it off (and the speed warning, but you can assign a diamond button for that), if it was not for that, i would barely use the PCM.

Glad to see they got rid of the drawing bit on the centre console, never used that in the past 5 yrs.
I quite like the existing Sports Sound as it different (albeit fake) it is not trying to mimic 8 gear shifts in a car that has 2 gears. But I did not like the idea of fake sound at all to start with, so I will not judge :) or the fact that it will turn a beautifully smooth drive into jerks for each fake shift!

As a J1.2 owner I am not thinking when can I upgrade, as I was when I had a J1.1. Interesting to see when the next proper update will come, but this is not one for me.

Most positive change I see in Taycan MY2027 is that Porsche is finally able to implement new common software and can do it fast. Porsche finally could catch up the competition , new cars could expect software updates and not just promises.
is the new platform better? Probably. Cayenne EV has snappy PCM, but after opening the car I could see some lags, like loading/starting code. Android? Old Linux based (?) devices has no this effect, either tv or cars. So 5x more compute power is not 5x more responsive user interface but faster development of new features.

I am looking forward to E-shift in my 2027. For those who want a quick sound clip of the video (which thankfully can be captioned into English for those of us German limited), could start at 4:35 into the video.

Thanks voksic for another super post!

I also like the addition of far better wheel rim camera capability to help avoid curb rash damage.

This camera view exists on j1.1 since 2020. They just hide the button for it if you have the 360 view option in favor of a button for 3d render of it
German software :D Can't have too many usefull buttons.
