I thought they were talking about this one.

Yes, that's PVTS+ and in UK is provided via Vodafone on a subscription basis.

All cars are supplied with 2 drivers cards which depending on MY may require dealer activation.

My US insurance provider (Amica) just asked me if I had security cameras and whether the car was garaged. I should double check whether there is a discount associated with any of this.

Can’t you just leave the fob in the car? Not like it’s getting nicked while on the ferry 🤣
I don’t think this will work as surely it only checks for the fob if the car is switched on? If the car is locked and off, and movement is detected, an alert will be triggered, even if the driver recognition card is in the car. Worth testing though!

Can you leave the fob inside and lock the car with the app? Thinking of a time where I want to go hiking but don’t want to carry my keys.

I'm pretty sure the car will refuse to lock if it detects the key inside.

Hi all, insurance have requested a tracker to be fitted, what trackers would you recommend and what other security do you recommend?

thanks

You can but that will deactivate the tracker (driver card).

Driver card is independent, has its own battery and is checked for its presence or not when in the car.

If you attempt to drive or move the car without the card present a silent alarm is triggered to Vodafone who in turn alerts you and My Porsche App.

Would invalidate your insurance too....

Keyfob and driver card (part of PVTS+) are physically separate.

The car won't lock if the keyfob is left inside.

Remote locking is unreliable and never tried with fob left inside but I'm guessing it won't lock.

yup exactly. I travel on ferries every few weeks and it’s a revelation not having to put it in transport mode every time I board. But if I needed a tracker then I think the Porsche one is probably the easiest to sort out
My previous cars I had to disable the alarm and motion sensor on a ferry - otherwise the alarm sounded. In the Macan do you have to turn off the ‘inclination sensor’ on a ferry ?

Yes, nothing changes in that regard.

From memory there is a PVTS+ setting to set travel mode to prevent false alarms.

Put key in glove box. My dealer did that. And I was able to lock car with app. And then pick up car later that evening with second key.

Why would you need the second key given you could presumably unlock the car with the app and retrieve the key from the glovebox?

Bizarre that this works. Must try with my 911 (992.2).

Plan was to pick up car with second key. And just get key another day. But since dealer is not that close, we tried to find another way with the key. Didn't think of that then.
