My Alarm went off two times this weekend for no reason. This was the first time it happened for me. Once the car was plugged in and parked outside, and the other time at 1:30am in my garage, not plugged in. I had a theory and it hasn't gone off for two days now.

My car was delivered and still in the "Transport" mode so I could not login with my Porsche ID. I was logging in as guest for three weeks and did not have the alarm issue during this "Unregistered" time. Last Thursday I brought the car in to my Porsche Dealership and they took it out of "Transport" mode and registered the car to my porsche ID. My App started working correctly and I can see information about the car and get notifications, including when the car alarm goes off. A day after getting the car registered to my Porsche ID, the alarm went off randomly as described above.

My theory was that I didn't experience the issue because the car was not registered to my porsche ID. Now that it is registered to my Porsche ID, I tried dissabling the "Connect Service" for the "Car Alarm" in my car configuration and maybe my alarm won't keep going off. Turns out I could disable the "Car Alarm" connected service and now the website shows the "Car Alarm" as having "Privacy Mode" active and I haven't had an alarm for two days. If my alarm goes off again I'll update this post. It must be disabled from the Car.

In the car PCM,
Settings -> Privacy and Porsche Connect Services -> List of all Porsche Connect services -> Car Alarm : Inactive

Website will then show Car Alarm as in "Privacy Mode" and in red.

Hi yes I started this thread an mentioned that as mine and my dealers work around to put in private mode..it has stopped the false alarms since setting it up that way. I still don't have the Porsche connect app on my phone and life goes on without...all good.

Thanks Peter P100, you cracjked the code. That’s why th3ey go off when you bring the car home because until whcih time. You login the car is in Transport mode. My car was at dealer for 3 + weeks and that was the conclusion they put it in privacy mode. Still my ID is active just doesn’t connect to my phone app. I would suggest your solution and deleting what is a pretty shitty app. When in Privacy mode the app doesn’t talk to your car.. which is the cause of the false alarms. Peter thank you for your post. You cracked the code much more eloquently than I could…

Excellent post! I'm currently trying this (temporary) solution and so far... no alarms

Disconnecting the connect service for the alarm through the PCM did the trick. Drawback being of course that if the alarm goes off, you won't get notified in the app.

Let me update the post, thanks for that catch. I'll also clarify.

Peter - forgot to ask - a quick search on the PCM simulator and I cannot locate where one would toggle on or off "Transport" mode - is this a PIWIS dealer only activation or is it hidden in the bowls of the PCM menus and am I just not seeing it?

Want to be 100% certain this is off when I collect mine hopefully this week!

What and where is "the PCM simulator"?

Appreciate all in trying to mitigate the alarm issue. I tried PeterP100's advise with respect to the privacy settings. At first, I thought we had a permanent workaround (locked the car around 7:pM last night) until I was greeted with an alarm at 5:AM this morning. It looks for me the best work around is the double tap on the key fob when I lock the car.

My solution: not installing the app at all. Seems to work so far, no problems with the alarm. Obviously I can’t be sure if my car is affected by this problem, since I dont want to try the app until there is a permanent fix. Easier to live without the app than a faulty alarm.

I tried removing the app, using the PCM disable trick, privacy mode, alarm went off again within 10 minutes of locking the car. The first Macan I bought had a similar issue with alarm going off, dealer ended up replacing the interior sensors to finally fix the problem. Likely a similar hardware issue, not sure how software is triggering a motion sensor tripping, though anything is possible with the complexities of the Taycan software. Seems like a good temporary fix from Porsche would be to make it so the disable internal sensors stick once set.

From another week of testing
- apps connecting to the car set it off. Even with a double click lock - just uninstalled them again. I want to use them but I don’t want the alarm.
- recharging and keeping the car on the charger all night sets it off. Maybe it keeps checking in online? Even with a double click lock.
- I’m going back to no apps, charge while I’m awake and double click lock.

I had a solid week of no alarms!! Where are updates from Porsche?!

Phil.

When you say 'going back to no apps', what does that mean specifically? You don't use the apps, or you adjust some setting in the car to prevent it from making use of and contacting the apps?

I have used Peter P100’s workaround method…put alarm in privacy mode… since Monday and have not had any false alarms during those 4 days. Hopefully Porsche will give us a proper fix for this issue soon.
