Planning a trip to Switzerland from the UK in winter in my 2023 4S CT. Need some winter tyres for the trip of course, just wondering which ones to get. I am on 265/35 R21 and 305/30 R21 ‘Cross Turismo Design’ alloys.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated ?

I had the PZero Winters before, and they were very strong winters tires. I take my Taycan skiing a fair bit so I drive through a lot of tough winter conditions.

This time I am going with the Goodyear Ultra Grip. I'll report back once I give those a whirl.

I've always used Goodyear Ultra Grip on 20" rims for Winter.

I have the 20" WInter wheel set which have Pirellis. They handle the snow/rain/ice fine and are quiet but you will lose a lot of efficiency due to temps and rolling resistance. I've made several spins to the Alps from London and find in Winter you get about 2.0mi/kwh going and 2.2 back (long downhill to start).

The 21s will be worse for range and the rims more likely to be damaged with such a low profile so I'd recommend buying a set of Winters on 19s if you can. The 21" Winters will be so pricey it might not be that big a differential to full 19" Winter wheelsets. eBay is well worth a look.

No NF0 on 21" afaik, only 19" and 20".
There is another thread here announcing Michelin 20" NF0 Winter tires.

If NF0 does not matter to you, the choice is much broader, of course.

I use the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 on the 21 inch Cross Turismo wheels. Good comfort, quiet and a fine set IMHO.
More than good for the Dutch autumn/winter climate.
Would take these again.

Put the pilot alpin 5 on my GTS spider 21” last winter. Didn’t want to buy another set of rims. Tyres worked great across cold wet Europe and heavy snowy roads in the dolomites. Probably not as good as a dedicated winter tyre with narrower rims but they worked great.

Goodyear ultra grip under my cross turismo. Great tyre ove winters. The ride is smoother than ever on winter tyres…

Got to finally test out the Goodyear Ultra Grips in some very snowy and icy conditions. So far I am impressed. I no longer have the Pirelli PZero Winters so I cannot compare head to head, but my first reaction is that the Ultra Grips may be a little better.

Constantly looking at whether to bother with winter wheels/tyres...didn't have any issues last winter so erring on not bothering....

When I look at tyres, Continental T860 generally comes out top of the tests...

I just bought a set of winter wheels and tyres from my Porsche dealer when I got my car, Porsche fitted Pirelli P Zero winters FWIW.
They seemed good the last 2 winters, though it was not snowy much so all seasons would have been OK.
