The best way is for you to give us some examples that you are considering, @Kev.k, then we can pick it apart what options might be trouble. However, as others said, Turbo trim is very well equipped. I have a no compromise Turbo build (see my signature for code), but I did stay away from the most troubled option in my option, which is a VLC roof, long story. I love everything about my build and cannot wait to look and drive it every time.
I wouldn’t want a VLC roof.

They look like an old crt tv turned off to me.

Im going to swerve the pan roof completely. It only really benefits rear seat passengers and I’ve read on here that some are on for their 3rd roof!

Ill take a look at your spec and post cars I’m interested in.

So many for sale in the U.K. It’s crazy.

Same here in the US. There is no better time to get a good one with low miles used.
Things are so bad, that we have Taycan commercials now during prime time sports.
My dealer left 2 of them at our Christmas market and they are just standing there for days.

£25k discounts on new cars here.

Market is totally flooded with masses of new cars and older cars coming out of lease.

EV’s are a hard sell in the uk. we just don’t have the weather.

I don’t even charge my plug in hybrid through winter. It’s a waste of time.

Most dealers won’t take any EV in trade atm. Everyone knows someone with a bad ev experience and insurance is expensive.

If I still had to commute I wouldn’t have a EV, but one would suit my lifestyle now and going forward.

My windshield insurance covers the pano roof as well, I doubt it would break down because of any other reason than stone chip or driving error so feels like I’m covered.

By "standard" do you mean:
Standard equipment for a Turbo or
Default item for a Taycan (RWD)?
E.g. Turbos come standard with PSCB, Matrix LED including PDLS+, etc.
Yes, sorry, Standard below Turbo spec. The Turbo/Turbo S solves most of these issues ?

Thanks for the advice.

I’ve had a few cars with pano roof including an Alfa Romeo (not known for great build) and had no issues.

I just seen the replacement cost, cracking stories and read some had to replace their windscreen with it too.

Taycans seem good value compared to anything else atm so I’m trying to learn as much as I can before I buy.

Nothing has put me off so far.
If replacement cost is one of your concerns, avoid PCCB brakes - more fragile than other ones, and eye watering replacement cost (here in the US I looked into it once, it was over $30K to replace all 4 brakes). That was one of two features which turned me off from a Turbo S - the other one was powered charge port, but that was not because of replacement costs or reliability concerns, it bothered me that it completely blocks the air-scarf (turns the vents in the forward section of the front doors into a non-functional decoration only, half a step higher from a vent sticker some people put on their cars).

Are you referring to the real weather ? Or was this figuratively (not sure if that word is correct English, I am not a native speaker) ?
Do you mean it is too cold ? Or too dark for solar electricity ?

Myself: I drive 'for free' 8 months a year, thanks to solar energy. During the winter months I actually have to pay for electricity.

For balance...

I have a pano roof. It cracked recently. And I still wouldn't have a car without one.

It doesn't just benefit the rear seat passengers, it changes the whole ambience of the interior IMO.

Stress cracked ones are replaced under warranty. Warranty is relatively cheap for this type of car.

Oh, and I didn't have to have my windscreen replaced either.

As someone else noted, the only things I'd avoid are the electric badge (just why!) and stickers down the side.

Personally I'd avoid the rwd and std 4 TOO, unless very cheap. In a tough sell market, the higher end cars with decent options will sell quicker IMO.

Only if they sell at a higher discount. Lowest depreciation on cars is always on base models. Check out how long a used Turbo S'es sit on the market and the price they eventually sell at compared to a CT4. Sure, a Turbo S will sell faster than a CT4 if they are offered at the same price, but ask 2x the price (proportional to MSRP) for the Turbo S and suddenly it is not longer sells fast (or at all).

Want some base numbers? Get a lease quote for a CT4 and a Turbo S CT, compare MSRP and residual values, see which one depreciates faster (both in percentage and total money).

Absolutely! I'd need to drive with my nose pressed up the windscreen (teensy exaggeration), or wear a hat, to not be able to enjoy glancing up at the sky as I drive. And I've never found the sun dazzles through the roof.
Easy to check on a test drive in one's preferred seat position.

At the moment, in the UK, the game seems to be offloading them at all.

I would say no options to avoid. Just make sure you get a CPO car other then that it’s just want you are wanting. Have a very nice specked turbo in the states that I may be selling

I’m considering buying a used Taycan turbo with the intention of keeping it long term.

Trying to learn as much as I can.

The panoramic roof was one option I really wanted. After reading about cracks and replacement cost, it’s the one option that I definitely don’t want.

Are there any other options that would be great on a lease, but you would avoid if you owned the car?
I wouldn’t want a Taycan without a glass roof! Lifts the interior significantly. Must haves for me were better 18 way sports seats. BOSE,Sport Chrono, 21 in wheels , privacy, auto park foldy mirrors, and lane assist. You can spend a fortune on extras but not sure I’d bother with most of them.

Can’t really say that there is a answer, more options ‘may’ allow easier sell once you have finished and ready to move on but at the same time, as the car gets older, the options become less value/relative. There are so many options to add/configure that I wouldn’t like to say avoid except for colour combinations- they can be more to taste.

if buying second hand i think I would just go for best price with as many options fitted, as you won’t have to pay extra as a new owner purchase had to.
