Exactly my point to @Jhenson29, but given his strong statement it blows my understanding of Profiles so I am testing it for myself. We live in near by cities in the US so I do not expect results to differ.
Well, I’ve disagreed with @W1NGE and told him he’s wrong for years. I mostly just ignore him now because it’s a waste of time to argue with him.

Timers and profiles perform different functions. They can be used together or independently. There are lots of use cases where, not only is it not necessary, it’s completely pointless to use both.

I have my timer set to depart at 10a and 3p with no preconditioning. My lowest cost charging window is 12a-3p. I don't like how the PCM pauses charging until when I will reach my maximum at the departure times. I prefer a strategy where it charges immediately at the window, and pauses when it reaches the maximum.

Yes - consult the manual and it will point out that after 30 mins of completing a charging session and not at 100% then charging will recommence.
Could you provide a clip of where the manual indicates "that after 30 mins of completing a charging session and not at 100% then charging will recommence"?

So far just using a Profile with Optimized set to 40%, the car charged to it, stating Charging Complet, and sitting there for 4 hours but in green wave mode as if it will restart charging to 100%, but not yet. So far @Jhenson29 is right. I am going to wait and monitor it.

This is the manual that supports my understanding, but this is not as clear cut as it may appear, because Optimized charging may mean that the car does not know what to do next as nothing "optimizing" is supported in the US and stops at a minimum to @Jhenson29 point, given nothing else is setup. I am testing...

Optimised charging relates more to dual power sources (solar + grid) which requires a HEM.

Used my method for 4 years and never missed a beat.

You could knock on the charge port twice before plugging in and claim the same thing.

Doesn’t mean it has any relevance.

I think the car behaves differently in the US vs. UK.

I am in the test mode and so far the car charged to the Profile minimum and has not restarted charging to 100% for 6 hours. I will keep it plugged in at least for 12 hours total and see if it changes it's mind.

I don’t think I’ve seen any evidence of that.

Edit: it’s does behave differently with or without a HEM, and a HEM isn’t available in the US (that I’m aware of). But other than that, I haven’t seen any differences.

@SergeyIndy you could save a lot of time by just accepting I’m right initially. ?

You are right for the US!

I think UK has to be different, or we would not have our UK friends insisting on the different outcome.

The manual is not clear.

I think Porsche may have picked the wrong guy to head up the Charging & Timers department for their first electric car...

I am in UK and have the same result as you. The important point is to keep optimised ticked if just using a profile then it will stop charging at the set amount and not re-start. I was told this when collecting my car and it has just always worked perfectl.

Very interesting and helpful confirmation.

I ran several tests now keeping the car plugged in for at least 12 hours each and it has NOT restarted to charge past the Profile minimum target with Optimized and nothing else.

Kuddos to @Jhenson29 for pointing this out and giving me a lesson on Taycan charging.

Interesting and perhaps a bug that has been resolved since launch which is when I experienced it.

I use Ovo Charge Anytime now and so don't use the Porsche app.
