I've been traveling a bit lately and have struggled to find hotels that have EV chargers. I stayed at one in Newport Rhode Island with 6 chargers and that was great...but finding it was difficult. There is an app called EV Hotels that is good in concept and somewhat useful - but it does not appear to be updated. Anybody know better resources? (I love getting up in the morning and finding a fully charged car!)
plugshare is good app and if you get the teslatap adaptor then you can use the tesla destination chargers which can be found on the find us section on the tesla website

thanks...hotels
ls such as Marriott (as others have noted) ought to make this process easier (e.g have EV chargers as a criteria in their routine hotel search) - but this is sure better than nothing!
You actually can filter by hotels that have EV charging. The Marriott app was updated a few days ago to make this change:

I tried this on the app, but can't see how you search by the filters. Can you tell how you did it?

Run a search and then hit the filter button, circled in red, below.

By chance, I happened to search Richmond ?

my experience. when I made my reservation I asked to reserve a terminal with my room. unfortunately the hotel does not manage the chargers. so when I arrived, the 3 chargers were occupied and they did not know if they would be available until the next day. bad experience

that is a variable that you nor the hotel can control. what would be nice is if the car's owners would leave contact info so if their charging is complete that they could contact you

Actually, the hotel CAN control it. There are some that only allow/offer charging with their valet service, and when they have multiple cars waiting for it they divide the night into slots and/or switch out cars that are full / past a certain percentage.

Similarly, they could enforce EV only charging - when especially the clipper creek chargers seem to be 50-50 between true EVs and PHEVs.

That just takes more effort than plunking 3 chargers into a parking lot and calling it a day.

not every hotel with chargers have valet parking, if they did have a valet then they could have tried to accommodate you.

are you saying that a phev doesn't have a right to access a charger?
did you try to get the valets to check on the cars that THEY parked at the chargers to see the status of their charging?
you fell into a bad situation however if there were valets parking the cars then they could have controlled the access to the chargers better. but the reality is that in situations like this first come first served prevails.

Agreed on the valet point - I've been to a number of hotels that charge for parking, have valet, and do nothing for EV drivers in terms of help organize the queue etc. For many other hotels out where parking is easier, it may just be more straightforward to add another 2-3 chargers.

Regarding PHEVs: This hasn't impacted me personally at all, luckily few (if any) PHEV drivers are willing to pay for teslatap and so far I've been road tripping with a Model X or Model 3. But I have been watching the non-Tesla charger situation in preparation for my Taycan arriving. And numerous times I've seen the lonely Clipper Creek charger being used by a PHEV, while EV drivers (Konas, ETrons) where stuck not being able to charge that night.

IMHO hotel chargers are not about "free fuel" but about enabling EVs to make trips that would otherwise be much more painful or impossible. A BMW X5 stuck there all night gets an additional 20 miles of "free driving", and so saves 2 bucks. Meanwhile, the trip for the Etron driver possibly turned WAY more stressful and/or involving an extra 30 min stop. That sucks.
So, EVs should definitely have priority over PHEVs. Or at least the PHEV driver should drop by 2 hours later and unplug and move, and not just block the charger for the full night.
My 2c.
