EVSE Storage In Vehicle

Searching through many threads, I did not stumble upon information on this one. While at my dealership, the service manager mentioned that he was told by Porsche NOT to store an EVSE in the frunk. Has anyone else heard this?

Exactly - where mine sits - might be possible I guess that in special circumstances water might enter the Frunk area as a reason for the comment re not to store there but fits snug as a bug in the under trunk rear storage.

I think I did read it on this forum. Something to do with an battery failure. Maybe someone else remembers.

however like mentioned here I use the storage compartment under the trunk. I Store my 22 kw charge cable, EVSE and 3 plugs for the evse (red 32a, Schuko and Italian). And a towel. I don’t use the bag that came with the car.

For those with Bose or Burmeister - the space under the rear trunk is filled with a subwoofer. So the Frunk would be favourite - otherwise it means using up the normal rear trunk/boot space.

Would be very interested to hear of confirmation that storing EVSE in the Frunk would be harmful in anyway.

My dealer commented while showing me the frunk “you could fit the cables in here but you aren’t supposed to”. I was more concerned with getting to driving that I didn’t ask why

Do you need to carry evse with you all the time? I can see it might be needed if destination only has 3 pin plug but not really any use if no industrial socket....

It was mentioned a few months ago on the forum but I can see no reason why. Seems a bizarre thing to say. Mine lives in there and gets used regularly to plug in at work for free electricity. It charges very slowly, but if it charges for 20-30 hours in a week that is quite a lot of charge.

I store the PMC+ in the under-trunk compartment. I also have Bose. Plenty of room.

I have bose and I still have the lift-up compartment for storing the EVSE.

I put it in there on my recent road trip. Never had to use it.

Yeah this is incorrect - for those with the std Bose system there is absolutely no issue storing the PMC in this rear trunk storage - only effects those with the Burmeister amp.

I have Bose and no problem storing the normal evse, public charge cable and 3 different plugs-cables for the charger
