Fitcamx dashcam installation

This thread has been a very interesting read.

I was considering a viofo a139 pro dual dashcam until now but the sleek design of the fitcamx is really appealing as it integrates so well into the OEM look.

My primary concern however is parking mode. It's the major feature I want of a dash cam since I've been rammed more then once (!) while parked on the street.

At this point, can current fitcamx owners shed a light of how reliable the parking mode is? The way I park, record on collision would suffice since all "attacks" so far have been straight on front. There's no way the license plates wouldn't show up if recording on impact was on.

Secondly, has anyone the rear camera installed how is the quality? Does it also record in park mode?

Well I contacted fitcamx today and was told that a fuse box connection was imperative for park mode to work on a Taycan.

Back to my original viofo a139 pro plan, I guess.

Or you could go with the Fitcamx for the front and get another cam for the rear. That's what I did. It makes wiring a lot easier, with no wire connecting front and rear. For the rear, you can just run the wire along the rear window rim and go under the rear speaker to reach the 12v socket in the trunk.

As a bonus, if you place the rear cam in the recess beside the 3rd brake light, you won't see it from the rear mirror!

I contacted Fitcam and they told me that the rear camera needed to be connected to the front camera with the supplied cable.

I told them about your connection to the 12v in trunk. They said they do not provide any connection cable to the trunk 12v.

is there a special conector/cable you used?

In my setup, I actually use 2 separate cams to cover the front and rear, so there is NO connection between the 2. Each cam have their own storage and power supply. The front is Fitcamx 4k powered by the rain sensor and the rear is DDPai mini 3 powered by a 12v socket in the trunk. I choose the latter because of its low profile so that I can hide it in that recess.
The one FitcamX listed as Front + Rear will need a cable connecting both together and are powered by the rain sensor alone.

How do you find the mini 3 quality?
I am considering a mini 5 for the front hardwired to fusebox so with parking monitoring set to record on impact and mini 3 for rear. I used mini 0906 dual dashcams for years and whilst these are only 1080p/ 720p I have always been pleased with them. I have the mini 0906 camera as a temporary install in my new 4S CT

This is a great idea. Does the 12v trunk socket stay on when the car is parked?

Just connected the front fitcamx to my Taycan but it disconnects my Apple carplay when I want to access camera on the app… any ideas as to what’s going on?

Got mine installed last night. Probably 20-30 min all in. Toughest part by far was getting off the factory cover as mentioned. I used some o-ring removal tools(linked below) to act as small pry bars which helped a lot given the tight spaces. They also worked great to help pull out the rain sensor connector and red string.

We'll see how I like the camera after a couple weeks. I did go ahead and bought the Garmin lense filter mentioned on here as well to see how that helps with any glare.

I have currently installed a Blueskysea b1w on the rear screen. Used a cable tie to get cable behind plastic trim around rear screen then tucked under roof lining and edge of hatch rubber seal to power from 12v socket in rear of CT. I still need to work out how best to route a cable to the front camera ...

The cable it’s just too thick imo wish they would have made it a little thinner to route it inside door weatherstrip.
