How to stop Spotify autostarting ?

ok. I give up. How do you make it so that spotify does not override the radio on startup? I rarely use spotify but every time I get in, it defaults to spotify. Am on android - turned it off as a background app on there but the taycan is determined that I must have spotify on and not the radio.

Good luck. Mine automatically takes me to apple music when car play starts. As it only has about 2 songs on it from my sons 5th birthday (quite a few years ago) on it, i'd much prefer it stayed on the radio.
It's been discussed on here before and i don't think there is a way to stop CarPlay (and maybe the google version too it seems) deciding what it is you want to listen to, rather than using last used media source.

I’ve not been able to resolve this with Apple CarPlay either. The best workaround I’ve found is to set the instrument cluster quick access button to change the audio source, so when CarPlay starts I press it twice to get back to the radio. I don’t use Spotify but presume it would similarly help.

Have you tried:

1. Search for Android Auto on your phone and select it
2. Scroll to 'In-app notification settings'
3. Scroll to 'Start Android Automatically' , tap, select on of the 3 options
4. Scroll to 'Start Android Auto while locked' - determine if this setting is what you want

couldn't find that but did find "Start music automatically" which was toggled on so toggled it off. hopefully fixed it!

I couldn’t find those option on the iPhone. Radio switches to CarPlay every time. I want CarPlay to turn on, but do not take over my radio each time.

I had a biggish (i think) over air update a week or so ago. Since then CarPlay hasn't automatically taken over my audio source, so it's staying on the radio if that's what i last used. May just be a glitch (a good one), but wondering if anyone else noticed?

I had been using the diamond steering button as recommended as above until now.

For whatever reason, I don't have this issue with CarPlay. I specially don't want the car to start with radio on, nor do I want audio playback to spontaneously start in CarPlay either. When I start up, CarPlay connects automatically and playback happens only if it was already underway at the time of connecting. I'm thankful that this is the behavior. In my last Porsche, I hated the fact that the car would start with the radio on - and I never found a way to stop that.

Actually now you mention it, I think that has been the case after the recent update - I’d just dismissed it as one of those occasional random anomalies! I’ll pay more attention to it, but hopefully it’s a fix

… and making an edit to this - I’ve used the car a lot since I posted this and it does indeed seem to be a fix! Happy days, but I just need to get used to it now and stop expecting the audio source to change when I move off! ?

Mines always done the same.

Mine starts in whatever was set last. Isn't that normal?

Leave the car while listening to radio A, when you return, radio A starts playing.

Leave the car while playing some shady Spotify library/playlist, when you return, Spotify resumes (takes a few seconds longer than radio obviously)

Same happens with android auto. If you shut down the car while in android auto, when you return it will try to connect to AA and load up waze.

If not, then it won't connect unless asked for.
