Is the surround camera really worthwhile or just a gimmick? For instance, does it really help protect the rims in a car park or is it one of those novelty items that eventually you think you will stop using?Tried the surround view, and now it is also on my build! Nice with the front camera, you sit low and it can be difficult to see how close to objects you are! And one rim is 3000€ to replace
Ive got it on my spec I’ll do a video in the next few weeks. Car supposed to be here next week.Is the surround camera really worthwhile or just a gimmick? This is not a new tech in German cars. Aren't there any good reviews on youtube? Is the surround camera really worthwhile or just a gimmick? For instance, does it really help protect the rims in a car park or is it one of those novelty items that eventually you think you will stop using?
Well the ones I have seen look rubbish and make the additional option look like a gimmick to me - that's why I wanted to get some other opinions. This is not a new tech in German cars. Aren't there any good reviews on youtube?
I have surround cameras on my BMW M5 and I find it to be very helpful (and cool) and I spec'd it on my Turbo arriving at dealer this week. Am I excited? You bet!I have tried it for a while and I think it is something you need to get used to? The reversing camera and the front cameras are placed quite low. Good for parking at charging stations with the front. But the back up camera is very wide angle and a bit difficult to use. Have experienced much better reversing cameras.
I would love to hear your comparison when you get your car. I do not have a lot of experience with it, other than short test drives.I have surround cameras on my BMW M5 and I find it to be very helpful (and cool) and I spec'd it on my Turbo arriving at dealer this week. Am I excited? You bet!
The surround camera is definitely worth while! I’m talking about the view when it shows your whole car from a distance away and you can use your finger to change the view. However, I can’t get it to be my default view when I’m in reverse and that is my preference! The default rear camera view is so distorted and weird it is distracting. My 2012 Audi A7 is so much better in the regular view.Is the surround camera really worthwhile or just a gimmick? I felt that the distortion folks are complaining about in reviews could be solved with software as it is simply image manipulation and I'm hoping not a hardware limitation.I have a loaner Panamera today and the surround view on that is significantly better. It may be due to the width of the Panamera main screen, so they're stretching things out and helping to suppress the distortion... hard to say.
