Installed a Tesla universal charger myself on a 60A circuit using EMT conduit and 6 awg THHN.

Cost of supplies ~100 bucks. Well additional 50$ wasted because I had to waste some conduit learning how to bend offsets lol..
And then had to get new wires because a defective LB conduit body had a sharp corner that scraped my wires. It was still cheaper than 500-700$ I was quote to install it.

Goodbye Porsche Charger. Got 1 charge out of it. Stupid ass 14ft cable.
Had to use my 30A Nissan Ariya charger because it had a longer 18ft cable.

Tesla one has a 24ft cable.

(in the breaker panel pic, ignore the capped off Romex, that was for my 14-50R)

Telsa app shows I am pulling 11.3kw
Porsche app shows 10.6.

Either way I got about 33 kwh in 2 hours and 45 mins!

nice install and setup - you can add a 2nd one in the future and configure power sharing - both units (actually up to 6) can 'share' your 60 amp breaker and will charge 2 EV/Hybrid's at once or one at full power…it's a slick setup - I have 3 TUWC's sharing an 80 amp charging capacity! They've worked great since October of 2023.

Nice. I just got a 2025 Taycan 4S and installed a Tesla Universal Wall connector as well to a 60A breaker. However I only ever get 9.2kW (38A) when charging the Taycan. When I plug it into my Tesla Model Y I get the full 11.3kW. I'm not sure if there's an issue with my Taycan or if it's due to the cold temp (has been around 35F-45F) lately. Have you noticed any change in charging rate based on temperature?

Taycan only shows the power "hitting" the battery - you're getting more than 40 amps (9.6 kW) - because when my 2020 Taycan charged at 9.6 kW inside the car showed 8.6 kW…

you can log into the webportal of the Tesla Charger and it will show you the voltage/amps it's providing.

The Tesla app is also only showing 9.3kW when plugged into the Taycan, and 11.3 kW when plugged into the Model Y.

9.3 kW seems low...

Mine show 10.5 or so on the Porsche app.

Definitely no impact from cold temps -- I've been charging my 2022 Taycan on a Tesla Universal Wall Connector with temps in the low teens F, same ten-point-something kW as in warm temps.

No issue. My 2025 4S pulls the same with a 48A Tesla wall charger. Tech specs for our model year only says 9.6kW charging. I swore it was more but it’s almost like the same debate with the Macan EV. Fine for me overnight but utilizing public charger for destination charging, it’ll be annoying.

Where did you see specs saying it only supports up to 9.6kW? I only saw that on the mobile charger that came with the car but that's a limitation on the charger not the car. The vehicle manual says max 11kW or 22kW if you purchased the 22kW charger. Also this post from another 2025 owner shows he's getting 11kW: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/my-2025-charging-experience.20804/page-2

I'm going to bring my vehicle in to the dealer this weekend to have it checked as well.

Now I remember that post. I never got above 9.xkW but my manual says max 11kW, too. Website specs says 9.6kW. I’ll test out my 48A TWC again but usually just plug in the Porsche charger to charge.

Curious what your dealer finds out for your car.
