Hi,

Getting the dreaded communication module issue, no Connect services anymore.
Some services were still available (about 1/3 of the Connect service list) before the suggested "Factory reset" by Connect support. Since then of course none.
I really suspect the problem to be server side, liekly some authentication issue (as some services were still working, 4G connection is still up etc...).
(tried changing profile, deactivating/activating connect without success before trying a factory reset and logging myself out and killing everything).

I read some had the issue resolve by a dealer upgrade of the PCM.
What is the current / latest version for Gen2 (European market).
I'm running:
UI: 3B.24-243801
Vers: MPR3_ER_POG46_K4360
Softw info: 4360
Hardware: H9J1035070CE
Txt version: MIB3_GUI_3B.44_GUI

I would expect / hope it to be the latest version as no nitification anything available and only bought the car (Porsche guaranteed) from main Porsche dealer 2 months ago, expected them to have done any upgrade before delivery (but I'm an eternal optimist).

Waiting for the car to be booked in after 2 weeks driving holidays (at least CarPlay is still working, that's the main thing - online radio is going to eat up all my data)

Thanks.

The newest version is Softw info: 4578, but they do not upgrade cars to it as far as I am aware, it's what 2026 j1.2 ship with from the factory.

There is however, also a newer version, interemediary, between 4360 and 4578, I can't remember the version number, 44xx.

So yes, they should update your software to this 44xx version, sadly they won't update to the newest 4578. Welcome to Porsche, where software versions are locked to buying new cars :D

If your car has problems with Porsche Connect not connecting, do not do the factory reset (which your Porsche support agent will recommend).

A factory reset deletes your MyPorsche ID from your car, you will not be able to re-add it (since the car cannot connect to Porsche servers), and you will have to use the guest account to drive your car.

Factory reset does not fix a Porsche Connect connection problem.

If you still have a 4G connection try parking it in an underground car park for an hour or so. If fixed mine the day before my appointment at the OPC to have the Conbox reset or replaced. 12v battery disconnect doesn't work as the Conbox has a back up battery so is never off.

Thanks for your feedback,
It’s been 4 days, parking away with key far away didn’t solve the issue.
I also crossed the border and had the module roamed (so forced connection to a new operator) without success.
For the factory reset, too late and yes I shouldn’t have, not only I’m stuck in guess but the services that were still working are now dead. At least CarPlay still works, so I won’t be missing too much.
I suspect it will help me decide if I can live without paying for Connect once my free subscription ends.

Have you LTE reception shown in the top left of the PCM screen?

You can try a connect CU hard reset; remove the fuse box cover in the passenger footwell (RHD car), the Connect fuse Term 30 is Fuse B12 7.5 Amp in the left footwell fuse holder - brown row, fuse 12. Remove the fuse retainer and then the fuse and leave the car locked for an hour or so. Refit the fuse and switch the car on - likely you'll see a red SOS LED at first but it will reset to green once the system is up again. The Connect CU will reboot; it may restore functions locally if the issue isn't server based/back-end.

12v power disconnect (via fuse removal or battery) has worked for many forum members.

Agreed it has been known to work especially if the connection is lost (no LTE or 4G or 5G) I've tried on both my Taycans without success most recently on the J1.2 I disconnected it for 75 mins without success.

I had a similar issue on my J1.2 - two weeks after I picked it up new the data connection was broken (no data to/from the car, apps requiring data like weather/news did not connect). I tried all the suggestions on the forum (disconnect 12v battery, parking garage etc) - none of them worked. I waited a month and a half to see if it was a backend server issue, but eventually decided to get it booked into the dealer to see if they could do a reset with their tools. They tried all the diagnostic tests and resets they could, including disconnecting the 12v without any luck. One thing I learned from the tech was that a 12v disconnect overnight is fine to do and might fix some connection issues - I was concerned that doing it for more than a few minutes might cause other issues.

After they discussed the issue and things they tried with Porsche Canada, they ordered a new communications module. These were in short supply so it took a month to arrive. After replacing the module I've had data communication back for about a month now, and hopefully that has fixed the problem (knocks on wood).

It's not clear what the issue was caused by, but the tech mentioned that the module seemed to be in a corrupted state. They did not know why, but hopefully by sending the module back to Porsche they can figure it out.

Thanks. Looks like a likely explanation, some corruption on communication module. A bit worrying that a bug or external trigger could create unrecoverable corruption, bricking the whole module.
I contacted my dealer, will see how long / how many attempts they might need.
On a positive note, I can still drive and charge.

The tech at my OPC said resetting the Conbox rarely works and they usually end up changing it. Thankfully my unintentional fix of parking underground at my son's apartment seem to fixed mine. It's been fine for the last 6 months 🤞

There was a problem with early 2020/2021 Conbox units but they have been fairly reliable since then. A lot of the issues are caused by back end problems with connection to Porsche servers

It’s quite astonishing they are unable to solve backend connectivity, especially as it has a probably significant warranty and reputational cost attached.
Probably something product managers don’t want to spend a few hundred hours solving because they can’t attach revenue to it.

Let's not mix up diagnoses for J.1 and J1.2 Taycan -- they have different comms systems.

As this thread is J1.2, and assuming this is the scenario where you are continuing to see "4G" but have no online services (eg Google is greyed out in satnav search) :
- cutting 12V power is unlikely to make any difference, nor is doing a reset (which as mentioned above, will leave you in a worse state because you will not be able to log in again)
- first the OPC may want to run through a bunch of resets (this was posted here a while back) which may take overnight; but in my case it made no difference
- failing that they may need to replace two components
- these may be on back order from Germany (mine took a couple of weeks) so perhaps don't let them sit on your car while they are waiting
- the car is quite drivable until it's fixed -- I did a 3000 mile road trip in mine -- but you will lose live traffic information, Google search, remote climate, and a few other less significant things. Apple CarPlay continues to work fine and provides a usable subset of functionality.

This is exactly what I'm experiencing with my J1.2. Contact Porsche this morning and did a few troubleshooting steps as already described on the forum, I stopped when asked to logout my account on PCM, told him I'm not taking the chance of not able to log back in. Porsche asked me to send pictures of SOS green light, PCM front page, actual mileage, app mileage, app trip data, and entertainment screens (Apple Music, Spotify, Apple Podcasts are grey out).

I know they can't solve it over the phone, but hoping that more owners contact them, they will take it more seriously.

A few thousands owners contacted them about navigation issues on j1.1 being broken in europe for months, and they are still broken for most owners beside lucky few :D

At 2% profit margins, and that's the optimistic expectation, don't expect many fucks to be given about taycan software issues
