Hi there. I have a 4CT daily driver. LOVE it! I drive a little bit around Denver, but a few times a year, I'll drive to the mountains (skiing/camping) or long distance trips (April I'm going to San Francisco.) I have snow tires mounted on 20" rims, but I need tires from April through November.

I also have 21" rims and was going to buy new tires for that.

Safety is my #1 concern
My second concern is durability. (I had Continentals and they wore out in less than 15,000 miles!!!)

And yes, I'll drive it like a Porsche while I'm on some long stretch of road in the middle of nowhere, but that's rare. I'm much more concerned about safety with crowded highway drivers/stopping power. Denver's highway traffic has just gotten insane.

A little research on ChatGPT says that tires with 19" or 20" rims will wear out slower, so I'm considering selling my 21" rims and buying 20" rims and tires.

Am I nuts? Love your thoughts.

EDIT: WOW! Thank you. I just finished work and your comments are invaluable.
Gemini AI recommended: Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 and Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus Elect, but I can't figure out how to buy them in either 20" or 21". So, of the ones I could buy, it recommended: Hankook iON evo AS SUV or Continental DWS 06 Plus. They're both about the same price, but Hankook is more durable and has better efficiency and Continental is more of a performance tire, which also potentially means more safe. I'm not a performance driver, so...

FINAL EDIT:
I simply couldn't buy the Hannok. A EV car guy friend said consider the 19" rims if my breaks would allow (they do) for efficiency and the HPDE instructor at PCA Autocross 101 said they're better for autocross. I'm realizing that 21" inch rims are like stilettos. Really expensive and easily breakable but pretty.

--> I just bought Taycan S Area 19" Take off rims w/Michelin Pilot Sport 4. This wheel set was cheaper than just the rims anywhere else so I'm ok if these tires don't last more than a year.

Taycans are heavy vehicles, I just replaced my 21” Pirelli (OEM) summer tires after 12,500 miles. I went with same sized Goodyear Asymmetrical 5 NF1 and they’re great, but I’m fully expecting to replace them between 12,500 and 15,000.

This is why I'm looking at 20" rims. The Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 has a 45k mile warranty.

Best safety aid's your right foot.

I like Hankook ion Evo...they do Taycan sizes in 21". Not N rated but wouldn't worry about that. Really good tyre (grip, noise, range etc).

When they're not getting damaged by potholes they are last well IME.

You did well getting 15,000 miles from a set of tyres on a Taycan.

Depreciation is costing you way more than tyres! - replace them when they need it and move on.

I have 21 inch tires with the Goodyear ASY 5's and still have 5mm tread on my front tires after 20,000 miles. I should be close to 30,000 miles before I need new fronts. I just replaced the rears but those had the Goodyear ASY 3's. I'm Surprised about the Continentals but not sure which ones you had. My go to tire guy for years suggested the Continental DWS 06 tires when I change out all 4. He said its a better tire than the Goodyear and has an even longer tread life, the tire also has great reviews.

That model receives universal rave reviews. In the three German car forums I’ve frequented in recent years, I’ve never come across a detractor. Even copes with light snow reasonably well for an all-season tire.

Yes, I watched several video reviews and it looks like a great all season tire with an aggressive tread design. My Taycan is my wife's daily driver so I want the best all around tire for all weather conditions plus tread life since she does not drive the car aggressively.

I had Goodyear Asymmetric 3s on my GTS with plenty of tread after 9,000 miles - but the inside shoulder of the fronts was down to the cords!!! Be careful to check the whole width before you declare any tyre healthy.

Interesting information.
I have used Pilot Sport 4S's for years, and think they are great, but they do get very noisy as they wear.
