No 5-years-old Taycan yet, especially not in 2023 ?.
Additionally many things are chanced since 2023.
Fisker is far not a mass produced car.
Compare today's data. Taycan vs. Panamera for best comparison. Then look at Taycan vs. Maserati Quattroporte, given it was the highest depreciating car in December 2023, it's probably still up there today. BMW 7 series is also a good higher volume comparison. Fisker Ocean depreciated way more, but I guess you didn't have it in EU.

Ok I am ready to make a deal on that Taycan is one of the most depreciating car.

What do others think about the possible 25% tariffs threatened to be imposed by the USA on all EU automobile imports. Note: This is an economic question not a political one.

If and when this happens in April, what do we all think will be the depreciation impact on the USA used market in the next couple of years? Obviously, any OEM can mitigate by manufacturing in the USA, but doubtful PAG will ever be able to do this.

I think it due time these will start appreciating a bit, timeless design, lower production numbers in future coupled with “coolness” factor - these cars really are phenomenal and at a “ridiculously” low prices demand will start increasing a bit -

I'll give you the answer to that question if you provide me with a budget of about ... actually, the budget for such an economic analysis would have been entirely open-ended, since as I would be close to coming up with an accurate projection, the previously announced tariffs would be withdrawn in favor of something else, which in turn would be ...

Personally I'm loving the depreciation as it's allowing me to consider buying a car I'd otherwise not.

Surely all of this has been done many times on here and many other forums? If you are worried about depreciation stick your money in an index tracker and look at your spreadsheet. If you enjoy cars for purposes other than shuttling around then your hobby will cost you some money, you can easily pick your pain point and still have plenty of fun.

I'm approaching retirement and have always hankered after a sporty/GT/estate to toddle around Europe watching bike races and visiting the outlaws in Italy. As a (poor) club cyclist I would (until recently) spend a good few hours a week riding into London and back for training. If you are unsure about the impact of driving ICE, riding down the side of the A13 at 6:30am will I'm sure convince you otherwise :) So in 2017 I bought my first EV and will not now buy another ICE car. It's early days, the tech will improve, the cost of production will drop, this will impact existing cars. I have accepted that as a price I'm paying to do what I feel is a positive thing. I know that's a whole other debate and for many people that is not their motivation to buy an EV, let alone a Taycan, but it is a factor in depreciation.

This will be my 3rd Porsche. I've not so far had a great experience with the "stealers", when I sold my Cayman I achieved 50% more by selling to an independent specialists than to the OPC. They are businesses, independent of Porsche, they'll pull your pants down.

I intend to get out and enjoy driving the thing, go to some places and do some things I'll remember. Could I do that in a car that would cost me half as much ? Of course, but I'm sure it will be a bit special in a Taycan.

Enjoy your cars, try not to worry about the money, if you're not comfortable with the depreciation, don't commit. I'm sure other great cars will come along, personally my clock is ticking, I better get on with it.

p.s. @f1eng I noticed in a recent YouTube video that James Vowles was driving a gentian blue Taycan coupe.
The (not so) lovely A13 is solid at 6:30 ? Similar for me re retirement , am enjoying the car, remarkably a lot more usable than i thought , all the best ?

Old vans belching diesel fumes and then the section past the incinerator .... you could taste the metal in your mouth ! For our American viewers, they used this area to film Apocalypse Now ... they didn't need to change much

And the moment I post, the car I was looking at has been sold. Bloody typical. Oh well, it was very expensive and full of options Is probably don't need.

Good to hear that Taycan owners like the car. Still tempted; I'll see what else comes up in the coming months.
I bought my Taycan when it was 3.5 years old and I beat most - if not all the depreciation. I love the car - and so does everyone else! It's a true head turner and I am happy. If I lost 50% more tomorrow, it wouldn't matter because I plan on keeping it for a minimum of 7 years. Good Luck! You will enjoy it - I promise :like:

I've been looking at Taycans for a while. Would love to own one, but I can't get my head around the valuations. There's a car I really like, it's a nearly-new, well-specced JI.2 up for over £110K. But when you type the reg number into something like Webuyanycar or Auto Express, you get a valuation of around £55K – less than half price! I suspect these lowball figures are totally ignoring the options, but even so... I shudder to think of the valuation in two years' time. I've lost a ton on my BMW i4 M50, but this is next-level depreciation.
You could also lease a used one for a year and see if you like it. Many of my friends have done this. After a year, you can make a decision - and you don't have any depreciation to worry about

The depreciation is crazy.

Porsche invited me to bring my 4S Cross Turismo in this weekend to be valued. They are seeing a lot of interest in 1 - 2 year-old Taycans and suggested we take a look.

My car is 18 months old, has loads of extras, 16k miles in excellent condition and it was valued by Porsche at £50K.

Over 50% depreciation in 18 months!!! I've accepted I'm just handing it back at the end of the lease period.
