I visited a 350kW Ionity charger this afternoon to test the new speed/curve.
  • Arrived with 7% SoC
  • Outside temp was 18 degrees
  • Battery temp was about 22 degrees C (did not have time to fully pre-heat, but the new charging screen showed it was within the ideal range).
  • Charger did not appear to restrict power at any point
  • Car restricted paper a fraction around 60% as battery cooling really kicked it
Results:
  • 300kW+ up to 60% with 318kW peak speed  around 40%
  • 210-190kW from 60% to 75%
  • 100kW-90kW to 85% before charing stopped*
So very impressed.

*Note the DC charging now stops as soon as the car hits the target charge, the same as it does with AC charging (85% in my case), rather than continuing to full like the old 'direct charge' mode. The 'direct charge' option is no longer appears to be available.

Photos at 5% steps, I missed the start and some of the initial phase.

Huh, that's an odd decision. I guess it's not the end of the world to just increase the target to 100% before going on a trip, but still.

I thought it made sense that the car would charge as much as possible when on a trip. Yeah, of course it's not efficient to charge to 100%, but I don't see why it shouldn't trickle charge beyond the needed charge level while I'm finishing my meal or something.

By the way, I would love to see someone try a Supercharger or other 400V chargers. The charge rate might be limited to (I think) 150 kW, but how does the charge curve look like? If it can hold a steady 150 kW all the way up to 80%, then it would still be a pretty fast charging car.

That's an impressive charging rate, but it also caused your HV battery temp to go extremely high. The max I've seen mine was 107F, and I was already concerned albeit undue.

New chemistry; can function within a much wider range of temperature.

Regardless, I feel uncomfortable with the temp being that high. I try to avoid charging mine during the day when possible.

My car preconditions to 110. You really don’t need to worry.

I think that's a good decision by Porsche, just another small thing they improved in MY25. Charging the battery all the way to full is not great for the battery so it should be done only when actually needed, also additionally every kW added to the battery at the charger will actually cost some money so why charge more than needed? My home charging is almost always way cheaper than the DC charger on the road, so if I'm coming back home from a trip and need a charge, I'd rather charge only as much as I need to get back home.

I used this feature with success on my very first road trip with my own MY25 Turbo. I was coming back from the trip and noticed I can make it back home with way less than 100% so I limited the charge to around 85% or something like that. In reality I was playing it quite safe as I arrived home with 9%. Anyway, the slider to adjust the target range is very easy to use, so getting used to using it with both AC and DC charging is very easy.

On the 2025s, can you change the slider to adjust the target range while the car is actively charging?

So do you still have the option to charge to 100%, or it's set fixed at 80%?

Once you start a DC charging session you cannot change the target % via the slider, so you have to set it before you begin the charge, seems odd the target cannot be set on the fly while charging. Not sure what happens during AC charging.

I really like what I'm seeing/hearing about the new charging interface/data in the new Taycan - I hope they retro fit it to gen1 Taycan's and I'm really really hoping it's similar or better in the Macan

kudos to Porsche for iterating on this and making it better - it's super exciting to see them pushing for better in these sorts of aspects of the vehicle - it give me hope!

when charging with a AC charger like the PMC+/PMCC - can you now adjust the amps to lower Thant he default setting for any given charging session when plugged into AC power using the PCM/Center screen charging user interface?

@Boss Hogg - question for you - see above - thank you!!

Impressive!
How long did it take to go from 7% to 85%?

Does
The Gen2 still has the option to DC charge a bit slower; but better for battery health?

It took 21mins. I don’t see a battery charge health option, pretty sure Porsche withdrew it as the batteries are resilient enough not to need throttled DC charging.
