coincidentally went in for service this morning. SA had no clue about the big update, asked me to email him a copy of the press release. what a joke.

Your dealer is not going to tell but had you asked about it they would. I too brought mine in today, but have already known they don’t have it yet. They told me they’re getting it on Friday but his tech would try it out on his own Taycan first before they’re confident enough to do it on the clients. Since I needed my windshield replaced anyway I went ahead with the appointment. I also told them about the locking issue, and the car going into park. Of course, they’re not aware of those two issues. It’s unbelievable no one has brought their Taycan in yet for that.
may I ask why you replaced your windshield? I thought I saw micro bubbles I mine while positioned in a setting sun but it could have also been my imagination.....

doesn't surprise me one bit. I've wondered if when these types of campaigns go out, if they require SAs to be aware of these campaigns.

Strange I had the car go into park at a stop light once too. Have had the car less than 2 months.

My car is sitting at the dealership last 7 days waiting for update. Communication has been awful.
I find out today that update is available tomorrow.
Fortunately I have a loaner.

Having run service teams before, it’s quite difficult to ensure everyone gets a notice and everyone reads it.

I literally just got back from Porsche Marin where I spoke with a tech there regarding the sudden disappearance of wireless CarPlay and the GPS-based suspension. She was baffled by both issues and then she told me that tomorrow, the 22nd, they're updating a couple of Taycans already there to the new PCM software who are experiencing similar issues. I couldn't get an appointment for tomorrow the 22nd but did secure one for Aug 4. Hopefully, all our issues will suddenly vanish with this update. Then again...

It's amazing to me that the average reader of this forum knows more about what's going on with the Taycan than the average Porsche sales guy or service advisor. What a way to run a business!

To be fair, the company I work for operates some stores and they don't get any advance notice of product launches (as far as I know!)...but that's slightly different than SW updates for existing products. I suppose on some level I can understand it, but I would still think these kinds of things would get blasted out to them as a release or some kind of weekly notes, and at least the next day they would know about it.

On the first day I got the car a rock chipped the right side of my windshield, but it survived. Last week, a bigger rock chipped the left side, and I thought we lucked out again but, as soon as we turned into a parking lot, it cracked half of the windshield. If anyone's interested, the windshield costs $1900, and $675 for calibration. On our 911, we got the insurance through Porsche and never used it. This time, I immediately turned down the insurance when offered and this happens...go figure.

It only happened to mine twice, so I wasn't going to bring it in just to get it fixed. But, since I had to bring it in for the windshield I thought I'd get it taken care of too, and I thought the dealer would have said "sure, we'll take care of it" instead of "no, we're not aware of that issue".

I just got mine fixed close to $4K, fortunately my deductible was $50.

Since you are in the US, wouldn't your normal automotive insurance cover this? It has on my other cars in the past. Or is it that they don't cover the callibration or some other aspect of the repair?

There is a fix..I referenced this NHTSA Complaint the first business day after this happened to us and they summoned me in immediately, I had to stop driving the car…they were able to fix it ten days later, it hasn’t happened since. Don’t ignore it, say something. My car was fixed at Champion Porsche in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Car shifted into park unexpectedly mutiple times. First was pulling into a parking spot, going about 2mph and car jolted to a halt, noticed it was in park. Second time I was already stopped, waiting at a red light. Car shifted into park. Both times I was able to put car into drive and resume my driving.

Have them look up the NHTSA complaints…my dealer asked that I get the car off the road immediately. Click the link and scroll through the power train complains on the 2022 Taycans…it’s a real issue.

Thanks I was trying to look for this while on the call with them. I ended up finding the screenshot of the printout on how it was fixed someone posted.
