Tires on EVs last pretty long, mine are 12000 miles now with 75% left.
Of course, all-season tires are bad but the torque discussion is bs – traction and ASR is significantly better with EVs.

My recommendation is to go and see those tires for youself. Make pictures.
They also probably will charge you extra $$s for their service compared to a pure tire shop ;-)

Exactly my point and why i am not taking their advice on getting 2 new tires for them refusing to patch the tires.

On the alignment i have no idea but insurance required it and safelite as well after replacing the windshield.
Agree on your plan for the tires.

Did they have to do the full, take the front bumper off, alignment or the simpler one? The former is crazy expensive IIRC.

The OP's reference to an alignment has to be for the camera. A suspension alignment is based on the centerline of the car. Caster, camber, toe, SAI would not need to be changed for a new windshield. Nothing about how the tires are angled/set would change with a windshield.

Wtf is a ‘chassis’ alignment? Do they also check the Fetzer valve?
Have you not seen the alignment bay and machine at your dealership - is the length of the car?

It's all high tech and over engineered (of course).

I got two reports from my experience - the first one shows the alignment of each wheel and how it sits on the suspension and chassis. All measurements are taken including the tyre tread depth at various points across each wheel. Overall you get a red, amber or green score for each wheel. Mine showed 2 reds leading to early tyre wear due to misalignment.

To correct they have to remove the bumpers (hence recalibration of cameras etc) which overall take 7.25 labour hours - hence the cost.

In my case they set the machine up incorrectly and reran the alignment checks only to find they had indeed made a mistake and nothing was wrong or alignment needed.

I wasn't planning to weigh in on this until I saw this image. FWIW I did have to replace one tire due to a nail but the others have 14K miles on them and look like I can get at least 3K more out of them. I have the Michelins.

Now, can you share how you obtained this image on your dash??

Hey guys, I’m here to pick your brain.

After my windshield got replaced, I needed to bring the car to the dealership in order for the cameras to be recalibrated and an alignment needed to be done on the car

I got my car end of November last year, as of today the car has 4657 miles, today I got a message from my service advisor telling me the car is finished. The recall was performed and whatever they needed to do was all done and I can go pick up my car. BUT, she mentioned that I needed two new rear tires.

One have to nails on it which I had no idea and the big REASON is because the thread it’s too low. How is that possible with so little miles is it because the car came poorly Alined from the factory and I have air suspension therefore I ate my tires or is it because the tires that come with the car are not good for the Miami weather.

I have no idea what to do whether to keep using it and change them further down the road or what so please comment me what would you do in this situation

They say tread is low but not extremely low, and the tire with 2 nails cant be patched.
Here is one more theory that explain the premature tire wear. With air suspension we have the ability to drive around in "stud" mode with the car sitting very low. Below is a pic that my wife took as I zipped by her on the highway.

Note the serious negative camber on the rear wheels. According to everything I read, driving in the lowest suspension setting results in the best aerodynamics (and makes the car look uber cool). When I swapped out the summer for the winter rubber, the tire guys pointed out some extreme wear on the tires which they attributed to the 2+ degrees of negative camber. The tires were not shot after 6K miles but they were getting close. An engineer friend later explained to me that decreasing camber when lowering the suspension is normal, not a defective condition. (Not being an automotive engineer I thought this was pretty f'd up.) With your next set of tires, maybe try leaving the suspension in "normal" vs "stud" mode and see if the tires last a bit longer.

That’s a wheel alignment…

Still curious how replacing a windshield necessitates an alignment. I’ve replaced multiple Porsche windshields and never did an alignment. I can see how removing the bumper for an alignment might require recalibration of sensors, but not vice versa.

Interesting, this makes sense now if you look at pictures of my prior rear tires (at about 14 000 miles - 2nd rear set, on 3rd set now). Pirelli Cinturato p7's. I always drive on 'stud' mode and in fact did think of driving in normal to see if it makes a difference but just cannot make my self do it! lol.

Apart from the tires being slicks more wear on the insides, which I presume is due to the possible negative camber.

The AWD display used to be available in AWD Taycans since launch (this one is clearly non Taycan) but 'disappeared" after the major software update of last year. There is now an animated power graphic within the PCM under Trip.

Now i get it….

I turn on the car and immediately move to individual and I drive as low as i possibly can ?

The whole point of the air suspension ( for me ) was to regulate the height.

I think i have not owned a car that i have not changed the suspension.

Even on the RR Sport i installed lowering links ( put 24”s on it ) - i dont have lowering links on the taycan so no need the urgently reply to this message ???

Looks like you took a pic of my tires! I do agree that it is really hard to ride in Normal mode. The worst is having to use auto lift when parking at work everyday (a necessity to keep from smashing the lower bumper into the curb) and have the car sitting in the lot, looking like it is on stilts. It detracts from the otherwise "Bad MF'r" vibe that the car exudes!
