I decided to make this thread to track PCM versions and their differences.

PCM software versions:
  1. 3882 - what 90% of taycans are running
  2. 3885 - stability improvment update for 3882
  3. 39xx to 40xx - intermediary versions, visible in PIWIS. No confirmed cars running these versions.
  4. 4338 one confirmed case of MY25 shipping with this. I assume early / first batch of MY25 shipped with this.
  5. 4360 which shipped with most MY25:
    • 4360 without app center - video app containing youtube instead.
    • 4360 with app center

Porsche Taycan PCM version tracking (and their differences) 1770655203059-ys
  6. 4405 which seems to be the equivalent of 3885, aka a stability improvment patch
    • 4405 with app center

    • 4405 without app center - video app containing youtube and others instead
Porsche Taycan PCM version tracking (and their differences) 1770671510133-a1
  7. 4578 which shipped with MY26 - all cars running this version have the app center

Porsche Taycan PCM version tracking (and their differences) 1770670788569-69

PCM hardware versions:
  • For j1.1 Q4 2019-Q3 2024 latest part number and what it replaces:
This part was added to Porsche parts catalogue in Q1 2024
    Preinstalled PCM software: 3882

Porsche Taycan PCM version tracking (and their differences) 1772213333890-md

  • for j1.2 Q4 2024 doesn't seem to have app store, only Video app.
    Preinstalled PCM software: 4338

Porsche Taycan PCM version tracking (and their differences) 1772213423952-1z

  • for j1.2 Q1 2025 - Q3 2025 seems to have app store with youtube, etc.
    Pre-installed PCM software: 4360

Porsche Taycan PCM version tracking (and their differences) 1772213464420-hf
Porsche Taycan PCM version tracking (and their differences) 1772230005209-c9
  • for j1.2 Q4 2025 - 2026+
    Pre-installed pcm software: 4578

Porsche Taycan PCM version tracking (and their differences) 1772213536362-1z

They don't seem to be installing the latest parts in j1.1 Q4 2019-Q3 2024, even if they have to do PCM hardware replacements. Services/Dealerships don't decide what part goes in.

Which may indicate that there is some hardware discrepancy between BF and DD/DE parts - there for sure is a difference in how they handle the LED lighting inside the car - color wheel vs no color wheel.
More likely that it is a simple difference of what software they come preinstalled with - as both DD and DE come with 4360 installed; while BF comes with 3882 - and porsche wants to keep all j1.1 on 388X software version.

I don't think the 4360 has the same app center as MY26. I see only a couple apps there (YouTube/Spotify).

MY26 has a lot of apps. I could take some photos if you want?
I have one in my parking right now, replacement from porsche, MY25, 9J1 035 070 DB hardware id; PCM 4360.

It has app center with: vivaldi, youtube, spotify, apple music and a game. But from what the dealer told me, it's market dependent what's in the app store.

Not even 1 month ago, I had another MY25, also replacement from porsche, which had 9J1 035 070 CE with PCM 4360, no app center, just a VIDEO app which had youtube and some tv app.

If anyone, with PIWIS that can go online - imported from one of the many closed chinese dealerships - wants to risk voiding their warranty, the programming code for 4360 is "C1U3B", accesed via the Campaign tab in the aditional menu.

Per TIs for PCM updates, vehicle voltage must be maintained between 13.5 volts and1 4.5 volts during this update.

From CT14, who's done the update in the past, the update can fail and brick the PCM hardware.

Interesting.

Btw the TSB is only for the really early MY25, it's not for J1.1.

I am aware, but the update procedure would be the same I would suspect, especially for cars running same PCM hardware, even if j 1.1.

Provided access to PIWIS online, it's a guided installation process, which goes through the ECU updates first.

Hardware is one thing but you have to keep in mind that J1.2 has a bunch of different controllers and things in it that don't even exist on J1.1.
There might be some surprises. The upgrade for J1.2 lists a lot of different control modules that have to be updated (integration step) to go up in software version safely, but many of those updates don't exist for the J1.1 or the module doesn't exist.

So I would not take it for granted that the J1.2 version just works as-is on a J1.1.
I'm sure the PCM will boot but there could be issues with functionality.

It may be true, only one to have attempted it so far is CT14, and he bricked the hardware once, so 50% success rate 😅

Just for the record, mine is a later 2025 running the following hardware and software that only has the video app (no app center):

My MY25 came in September 2024 with a not mentioned version: 4338.

The most notable difference for me after the update to 4360 is, that there is no way to restart the PCM anymore. With 4338 I could still do the two finger engineer mode reset thing.

My experience matches yours exactly.
Someone needs to figure out the "new" reboot procedure since the two-finger-upper-right thing was removed from the PCM.
I can't believe they completely took away all capability to soft reboot from the screen.

November 2020 J1.1 here.

Would Porsche apply any of the updates if you asked?

3885 is only for customers who complain about connectivity or rebooting PCM. I have a feeling you suddenly have connectivity issues. You should call OPC tomorrow.
