FYI - I went for added safety - it was a bit unclear to me if the mobile EVSE had adequate protection - could be belts and braces then

Also I was told notifying DNO also applies if your total diversified Kw could exceed the present incomer rating - also, ( I seem to recall) if it exceeds 60A? - not sure.

and anyways will only really apply to older properties - but a decent sparks can advise on that.

sound like you have it covered

good luck

Most new evse including Porsche Mobile Charger has inbuilt PEN protection which complies with Amendment 1 to 18th edition so no need to install additional PEN detection device or earthing rod.
Also no need for your installer to inform DNO for commando socket installations. Mine told me he needed consent from DNO to install two Commando sockets as potentially I could connect two EVSEs. I emailed the DNO who said Commando sockets are not subject to EVSE notification or consent requirements so installer can just get on with it.
Thank you Simon, thats good to know, this is something that I have learned from this forum and after spoken with several electricians they all seems think that we would need a separate PEN protection unit for fault detection module and the load management to the device. How can you identity which of the new Porsche Mobile Charger has the inbuilt PEN protection - do you think mine is one of the newer unit that might have the inbuilt Pen, the charger came with the Taycan (M22) - see picture. Did you have to install a PEN unit for your setup?

Also, some of the electrician seems to think the Porsche Mobile Charger is not worth installing and keep trying to get me to buy one of their dedicated EV charger like a Zappi charger, Thanks

This is the older version. The newer version won’t do 11kW and says Universal charger on the back

I'm not sure if your unit has built in pen protection, I suspect not. Check with Porsche GB in Reading. But just install a garage distribution board which provides this.

I think the garo does but check with your electrician
https://www.electrical2go.co.uk/garo-g6ev40pme-consumer-unit-mcu-type-a-rcbo-pme-fault1.html
Or https://ecoharmony.co.uk/products/pen-fault-detection

I think both of these offer pme protection rather than true open pen protection but comply with the regs.

Hi Simon, I only just saw your reply. Thank you for the two links - very useful. I think another member from this forum, I think it was James he installed the Matte:e pen box with another small circuit board. Do you think I might be able to get away with just this Matte:e box alone?

I think that is all you need. You could possibly just add their pen protection mcb into a garage consumer unit with spd and suitable rcbo.

Who is your DNO? I found SSE very helpful in answering questions. I think strictly speaking as you are using portable equipment plugged into a commando socket you might not need open pen protection to comply but clearly that doesn't provide you with full protection. When you use the porsch mobile charger away from home for example at a holiday home and plug in using the 13 amp lead you won't have pen protection

My car arrived in May, the supplied charger was the Mobile Charger (not plus) but it is also rated for 7.2kw at 32A.
It was fitted via the Porsche UK/Andersen EV arrangement. I asked the local guys first but they did not want to get involved with an unfamiliar charger.
There was also another (black) box they fitted to meet some regs or other as well as a mini consumer unit.
I can select 50% or 100%, with the latter I get 6.9kw at the car. At 100% the unit is only slightly warm to touch.

The charge depends on the survey and installation required. The work here was completed in a morning.
Hi James, can you please let me know what is the white box on the left hand side to the Black matt:e box that you got installed. I think you call this as a mini consumer unit, would you be kind enough to let me know exactly what this consumer unit is, make and model would be brilliant.

There is only a 'W' on the metal casing. From the rcd code it appears to be Whitecliffe electrical.

Hello UK members, after weeks of research and valued contributions from everyone here, I have now successfully managed to install my commando plug in order to charge at 7.1 kw - please see picture. After carefully following your guidance, I've managed to get it done at £450 which seems to be the going rate at the moment. Big thank you to Cherryjock , smoothound , Speuk , Midlifecrisis
