The stop button. It requires a long press to turn off the car.

I never press it long enough. Sometimes I do, and I swear the car powers itself back on while I'm unloading. My 2019 etron is just push the button, it powers off. No push and hold, no drama.

Can the long press to power off be changed into a short/shorter press? PIWIS setting? anything?

Am I the only one?

Yes I find it annoying at first especially coming from a Tesla with no power button in the first place. But so far I’ve had no issue long pressing for 2 seconds and keeping it off.

Serious question: Is there a day-to-day reason to use the power button? After three years of ownership, I still just use the key, never touching the button.

You can double tap the power and it shuts off, or hold for a few seconds.

None of my EVs do I put it in park. I just turned it off when I stop. The P button is pointless unless I want it on when exiting the car

Interesting. Never thought about it that way.

In Teslas it’s the opposite. You put it in park. There is no on or off button.

In the Mercedes EVs you have both a park and on and off button.

Good point. If it doesn't have a power button, then that method doesn't apply

I just get out of the car and press the lock button on the keys - that turns the car off. I also hate how long you have to press the button in the car, but it isn't needed.

You use the key to power off the vehicle? How?

See my post right above yours. Step out of the vehicle and lock it with the key. That turns the car off.

OK, super helpful. Where I live locking things isnt really needed. Plus, being in a garage locking was doubly unnecessary. But now I know - double tap or lock the car turns it off. I knew I'd be glad to have posted this question.

For the entire time I have owned the car, I have been doing this:

To enter: Unlock the car with the key fob, or wait for the door handles to present when I approach.
To exit: Press the park button, then get out of the car and either press the lock button on the key fob or touch the door handles to lock.

So my question is this: Am I doing somethign wrong or missing something by not using the power button? I don't have any measurable vampire drain, so the car is definitely not staying "on" for long periods of time.

What's wrong with you people? A two second hold on a 'power off button' is too long? You don't use the PARK button? You would rather search your pocket for the key to turn it off? My God, go back to your Tesla's please.

What I find annoying about the long press is that you can hear the audible "click" when you press the button, which fools you into thinking that the car has accepted the input, when in fact one needs to linger longer.

Also: If you don't use the Power button then comfort entry doesn't work.
