Considering purchasing a very lightly used 2022 Taycan 4s. 3,870 miles, sticker at $76k USD firm. Would probably purchase extended bumper to bumper 5year/75k mile warranty other than the battery ( +$2500, non-CPO) as well as the included standard Porsche 8year 100kmi battery warranty (5 years left). I assume this was a very light driver for an otherwise retired person; it feels and smells like a brand new car. Like, the leather conditioner is still fresh. Clean carfax, single owner, no accidents. I love the exterior and interior color.

I've scouted opinions elsewhere and feel pretty good but figured I would ask the enthusiasts here. Seem like a good deal? Has all options I would want other than the thermal/audio insulation windows and ACC - I don't do much highway driving but my 2019 forester has ACC, kinda disappointing such an expensive car doesn't to be honest. Performance plus battery, vented seats, PSCB breaks (interesting choice, whoever specced it!) I drive about 30 miles a day on average and maybe a 2-300 mile road trip every month or two. This car may convince me to drive a bit more often and find some windy roads, though.

I have L2 charging at home already, wife has a longer range EV that can haul more when needed, etc. This is purely a pleasure purchase at the top end of my budget. Should I wait for the 2026 releases and see what used 2023s hit the lots?

It’s a good price for a really good optioned car with the Olea leather, etc. Plus the extremely low mileage. If it’s really what you’re looking for I would jump on it before somebody else does. I’m on Porsche finder weekly just for curiosity to see what’s available and this is a good price. Definitely get an extended warranty, really not an option on a car like this that’s going to go out of warranty pretty soon. I purchased a low mileage 2022 about eight months ago and I love it. No substantial difference between a 2022 and 2023 other than gaining an extra year of warranty.

Might consider having the battery state of health checked.
Unlike gas cars that be stored easily, the low mileage on this one means it was sitting for much of its life.
Storing an EV for extended periods on either full charge or low charge is bad for the battery lifetime. 50% charge is best for long term storage on EVs.

Thanks and good point; battery checked by dealer with report from Recurrent shows it at 98%.

Not available as a CPO or lease. Better warranty (5 years/75k miles everything but the battery) available for $2.5k and I am not wanting to lease.

Oh i see it's from CarMax, yeah big risk.. unless you want to buy the car for a year...
i'm not sure what the warranty they have covers but its not the equivalent of the Porsche warranty.
Do you understand the depreciation of the car? in most leases your total pay is significantly less then the actual depreciation.
This car as CPO should be leased at around $600-800 for 24/12 months, deals like that exists all over, so i'm not sure what your strategy here in terms of finances but no EV makes any financial sense to buy, not even short term for 1-2 years.

Not a huge fan of leasing in general but will look into it. I am in Georgia, US, so pay TATV on lease - better than full sales tax but not nothing.

CarMax's warranty is very good; it does come with a deductible but is full coverage minus the battery. I'd review exclusions at time of signing.

Lease companies will not be losing money (maybe previously when EVs were thinner on the ground, but now? Nope. Lessons will have been learned).

In the price you pay, they are factoring in the margin to get rid of the car once you give it back to them. Does it give you cost surety? Yes. But IMO you are paying a premium for that. They are not doing you a favour and I would bet my house that they know how to play this market better than punters.

If cost surety is a necessity, or immediate cashflow is a problem, lease. But I wouldn't be thinking it's a cheap way of (none) ownership.

OP - be honest with yourself about the importance of the options you're missing. Like you I don't do huge motorway miles, but wanted ACC..I've rarely used it, but the times I have it's been useful and would have been missed. (As an example).

If you're not going to regret not having them, go for it.

As another point on depreciation, the way to beat it is not to chop and change your car every 5mins. Hold it for 5+yrs and the relative impact of depreciation, if you buy well, is small. Which makes being sure on spec important.

Congrats, you'll love it. Mine's a '22 as well but with a lot more miles.
