I am looking to get a bit more pedal responsiveness and power from my Taycan 4S. Redshift and MapEV seem to be competitive products - both flash the ECU but the results appear slightly different. Does anyone have experience with either and any recommendations?

Here is what I could glean from their websites for Taycan 4S:

ProviderVariantStock (per source)TunedGains
Redshift Performance4S522 hp, 472 lb‑ft611 hp, 613 lb‑ft+89 hp, +141 lb‑ft.
T1 Race Development (MapEV)4S PB+563 hp (launch control), 482 hp (normal), 472 lb‑ft720 hp (all modes), 487 lb‑ft+157 hp vs LC, +238 hp vs normal, +15 lb‑ft.

It seems Redshift adds more torque, MapEV adds more HP.

@prj being active on this forum is enough of a customer service point of reference for me to choose MapEV over the other one, if/when I do so.

Someone correct me if im wrong but it seems like AI got some things wrong:
I'll be going with MAPEV sometime in the future.

Hoping MAPEV has some sort of sale soon, or waiting till at least one of my kids is out of daycare.

Same here, waiting for a sale or group by offer from MapEV. Black Friday is this week, but no sale...

Please don't use LLM's for this kind of analysis, it's a disgrace.

The majority of information can be found here:
https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/part-3-the-quest-for-the-perfect-tune.25979/

The "Overboost" is not similar - we set the inverters to launch mode on full pedal, nobody else offers that. This means more torque on all the cars, and also more power on J1.2.
What everyone else does is max the torque limiter in the ASG, but that doesn't give you full launch torque and in case of J1.2 it also doesn't give all the power.
The launch mode bit also sets the PSM into a different (better) slip target as well as hardens the dampers for less wheel hop. It accelerates faster.
For J1.2 our tunes also now come with infinite push to pass/attack mode (no cooldown).

Completely turning off torque filtering results in a car that is a complete disaster to drive, I don't know why anyone would willingly subject themselves to that. There is also zero reason to do so, you can just activate it conditionally when mashing the throttle. End result is that when you're flooring it the torque is immediate and when you are just driving normally, then you have the original refinement - this is what we offer by default.

As for the power/torque numbers - the ones we publish are the correct ones, the rest are guesstimated (wrongly) or derived by multiplying battery drain... Since the other providers just max the torque limiters in the ASG then the cars make the non-launch torque and the maximum power (in case of J1.1, J1.2 additionally makes more power with inverters in launch mode, like 80hp more). Please see the links in my signature for info. So you can assume when another vendor publishes a smaller "official" number, they are in fact making the same power on the J1.1 as we do (but not on the J1.2). All the real world measured power and torque figures are on our website.

If someone is publishing higher torque figures, then they just don't know what they are selling (you can never make more torque than the motors are capable of by modifying the ASG). Just refer to the "non-launch" torque published in the deep dive threads as to how much actual torque it will make (and the launch torque in case of our controller).

The only software in the world (apart from INCA in development mode, which is closed on all production controllers) that can ram log the Taycan ASG is my software (https://www.vehical.net/). The ASG has precise actual torque and power outputs from the motors at all times, and my software can log that info (and much more) at 100hz.
We've also had many cars on dyno at this point if anyone wants dyno graphs (they are less accurate though and usually show more power because the coastdown measurement is inherently flawed).

No discounts of any kind are planned, it's a fairly low volume product that took a lot of development and the price is what it is. Keep in mind that our price already includes a new ASG, we don't charge extra for that, and our cost went up on those a little recently, but we ate it.
We also don't charge extra for customization - we can alter the regen (and much further than what was offered on the market previously), alter the power per mode and so on.

P.S.
Additionally our offer has:
1. MapEV Diag - free diag tool.
2. MapEV Flash for remote reflashing of the controller, so if you want something changed or transfer it to another car you can do that remote. Or if we come up with any kind of update, the car can be updated remotely.
3. Sizeable distributor network: https://www.mapev.net/distributors/

I‘ve been running a RedShift tuned ASG for over a year on my J1.1 Turbo S. I’ve been very happy with the power and torque increase it offers over stock and the removal of throttle filtering and the max speed limit.

RedShift were one of the first tuners to offer such an upgrade. I’ve considered switching to the MapEV solution for its unique inverter launch mode enablement but then I’d have no use for my expensive RedShift ASG :(

I think this post tells you what you need to know if someone is thinking of switching from one to the other…..

I wouldn't recommend switching either unless you don't care about money at all, it's not really worth it. Realistically you get 100Nm more torque on the Turbo S, 60 Nm more on the Turbo and GTS and 20Nm more on 4S/4/RWD in case of the J1.1.

On the J1.2 the difference is significantly more pronounced, as there it's not longer just extra torque but the power is also affected. I do have back to back comparisons on J1.2 with certain vendors, and also e.g. HGP have published 100-200 numbers on J1.2, and we're 0.3-0.4s faster courtesy of the "launch patch".

Somebody in one of the other forums was posted about a company that’s doing tunes now for 1400 not sure if it was Black Friday special but seems like a deal. Vivid?

Not finding what you’re referring to. Any more details? At that price I would bet any customization and the actual module are separate.

I use MapEV to tune my Taycan RWD with the standard 79 kWh battery.
The overall results are excellent the response is much quicker, and especially with gear shifts now happening at around 125 km/h, the difference is huge!
The real-time support provided on the backend is truly priceless.

Thanks for all the great information in comparing redshift to MAPEV. It seems to me the MAPEV is overall superior and also cheaper. I am thinking about getting MAPEV for my Taycan turbo 2022. I am intrigued about adding more regen when releasing the pedal and how this can be tailored. I am used to this as I also have a Tesla. I like regen but my wife doesn't. Will the regen only activate if you have the regen turned on? I am hoping this is the case so I both my wife and I can set the regen braking to our preference.
