It is awesome looking indeed. I remember reading somewhere on the forum in the early days that the design would have increased the weight of the vehicle considerably, reducing range by as much as 20% and significantly increasing insurance premiums. Impractical as a result.

I experienced suicide doors on a BMW i3. At the time I had two small children, one in a car seat, the other in a booster.

What an absolute PITA. Unless you're parked in an open area, getting access to the rear seats sucks. And then you're trapped between whatever the doors are open up to and the clam created by the set of doors. It's really annoying. I would never want a car with suicide or "coach" doors as they are referred to by Rolls.

There are suicide (or coach) doors and then there are clam doors (requiring the front door to be opened first). Works well on a Rolls Royce Wraith (less so on a Cullinan (clam)) or Phantom drophead...but at a price!

Was so disappointed when I saw they didn't go with the suiside doors.
The really nice thing is that this design has no B pillar and nicely thin seats (with the seatbelt attached). That would give more room and there is no awkward getting around the B pillar when getting in. I would love to have this :)

I'm guessing to make the seats that thin and strong it needs to carbon fiber and will be expensive? Just like the roof without a B pillar to be still strong enough with a roll-over? A similar design is on The Koenigsegg Gemera (with one door) but it is $1.6 million .. ouch!

agree.

would be terrible for families with kid seat(s).

The Mission E does look roomier though.

Was going through my old pics and found this.

Well - they got it pretty close in reality - so I am even more impressed with the real thing when looking at that.

100%! Had the same experience with our i3. Such a PITA. The worst part was closing the doors on the passenger side after the kids got out of the car and ran away, while I was still in the driver's seat.
