Tried that and at 1 station it worked at the 2nd it did not, although listed in App/PCM as Tesla Supercharger with Plug and Charge enabled and in PlugShare as non-Tesla vehicle available.

I tried 2 different stalls with the same outcome, both failed Plug n Charge and initiate from Tesla app.
Did the tesla app say that the station was Non-Tesla compatible? Or just the PCM?

I would only trust the Tesla App as that's straight from the source.

Yes, that is correct, Tesla online map and app showed it as non-Tesla vehicles supported. I can try again. The car after plug-in showed "Charging is Not Possible".

Ok @gtm, this is the e-mail I got from corporate on Oct 28, 2025 with no differentiation about J1.1 or J1.2, just plug and charge.

This is the source that says this applies to Taycan 2020+ and

I can't tell from what you posted if there are any model year restrictions. What is displayed in your post it pretty generic about access. I asked Gemini and Perplexity about plug & charge for the Taycan. Both said 2026 only so far. Below is Gemini's response.

"As of early 2026, Plug & Charge has officially begun rolling out for select Porsche and Audi vehicles on the Tesla Supercharger network, though availability depends heavily on your specific model and year.

Porsche Availability
Porsche announced in January 2026 that Plug & Charge is now live for certain models via the Porsche Charging Service. This allows you to simply plug in with a NACS adapter and have the session authenticate and bill automatically.

  • Supported Models:
    • 2026 Porsche Taycan (and newer).

    • All Porsche Macan Electric models.

    • Upcoming Cayenne Electric (expected later in 2026).

  • Requirements: You must have an active Porsche Charging Service account and the feature enabled in your vehicle settings.

  • Legacy Models: Pre-2026 Taycans generally still require the Tesla app to manually initiate and pay for a session, even if they have the physical adapter."

I don't fully trust any of the AI bots but both were pretty specific about 2026 only. And frankly I trust Gemini more than I trust Porsche to roll out anything on a timely basis.

From Porsche:

Plug & Charge is not working

Not all charging stations are compatible with Plug & Charge. You'll be able to tell whether a particular charging station supports Plug & Charge in the My Porsche app. Here’s how to find out:
  1. Go to My Porsche app (login required) Go to Map and enter your location Tap show charging stations (at the top of the map) Tap the desired charging station Tap the name and address box Tap the correct plug type Tap the relevant EVSE-ID. A Plug & Charge icon will then show whether Plug & Charge is supported or not.
A lot of steps to go through to see if the P&C icon is there for the station.

Super helpful. Both stations I tried today say on Porsche App under Info that "Plug n Charge available".

Also, reached out to someone I know locally, who used a station on another town near by, also Plug n Charge was not working on a 2022 GTS but the station showed it on the app. Tesla App initiation was required.

I suspect that right now, even though the station is "P & C available", it's only available for a 2026 Taycan. Audi is even farther behind. My 2026 has zero P&C. It's supposed to be there for EA, but fails every time (just one more reason to avoid EA). I'm certainly not holding my breath for Audi to get around to enabling it for Tesla. Just use the Tesla app. I'm pretty sure that will solve your charging problem at Tesla.

Question: Anyone knows how to detect the ones that are on working with the car as I was relying on the Plug and Charge that was supposed to be live since September and should just work.
Porsche Plug-And-Charge is not 100% reliable. For EA is mostly works, but you still want to have the app ready to go for times when it doesn't - rarely, but I have encountered EA chargers which failed PnC but worked with the Porsche app. I would assume same for Tesla (though PnC didn't work for at Tesla at all last I tried, but it was a while back it might not have been officially enabled then), I would recommend having the app pre-setup ready to roll when PnC fails. I setup my Tesla up over a decade ago, but I suspect in a pinch you could set it up in just a few minutes. V3 superchargers may also have credit card touch payment, but I've only seen those in pictures online so far.

All good feedback.

Back to my original point, I am not harping on Plug n Charge to work, my issue is to be able to charge at all. My test showed that while only 2 stations on the north of town are clearly by all sources support non-Tesla vehicles, one worked via Tesla app with really good charge speed, but the other one completely failed. Therefore, if I would have ventured out of town and arrived at a Tesla charger clearly supported by all sources, then if it does not work, then I am toast, or I need to have enough charge left to reach an EA station that I know would work as emergency back up but out of the way of traveling back home.

I will make another attempt to try the one that failed and post result and will try 2 others toward downtown to see at how may I can charge at all.

Were there any other non-Tesla cars at the one which failed?

None.
But I saw Hyinday, Rivian at the one that worked.

Attempting to use anything other than the Tesla app to locate compatible Superchargers AND to initiate charging for any non-Tesla EV is currently a recipe for disappointment.

Plain and simple.

No argument there. But my success rate is 50% at this point. One worked and the other one supposed to work but did not. With that rate of success, I cannot risk going into the country with one by all means compatible supercharger and then I am stuck. I will be trying the one that did not work again just to be sure and report and will visit a 3rd one that is close enough in town to test.

You should download the Tesla app - it'll show you which superchargers support non-Tesla car charging. Not all superchargers are open to non-Tesla cars.
I go to Tesla Supercharger on the Tesla app but where do you find the support non-tesla car charging. Can I assume if you dont see it on the app, its not supported?
