I’m sure this is true. Waze is best where there are many Waze users because it “crowd sources” information. In urban areas, I think it is indispensable, particularly for spotting police and speed cameras. It also spots traffic jams due to accidents or constructions far better than the native navigation. Waze is the only reason I use CarPlay.
Isn‘t the best combination to NOT use CarPlay and then have Waze running on the phone with the same destintion as the Taycan navigation. That way you should get the traffic and speed warnings?? I have mot tested this yet

I have Waze on my phone after being recommended it by a friend who lives in a big busy city who told me it was invaluable.

I find it recommends bad cross country routes and stopped using it after it directed me down a road so narrow the undergrowth scored the paint both sides of the car. It seems to have no “knowledge” about single track roads.
Native navigation isn't much better if you ask me. In the city it has the tendency to send me down super narrow alleyways because it's 5m shorter than the main road. I still have PTSD from last time I had to do a 28 point turn to get back to the main road. Google maps for me whenever I think there's remote chance for a f***up.

How long does it take y'all to have your phone connect via Bluetooth / CarPlay /Android Auto after the car turns on? Mine seems to take 3-4 minutes before Bluetooth turns on for some reason (even if you go into the Bluetooth menu it is unchecked and you can't check it). Wondering if this is normal.

Few seconds, up to 15, i’d say.
Usually even before i start driving.
(my routine: fasten seatbelt, select destination, put glasses on (have one dedicated for driving), put in reverse, check if there are no cats…)

Can't say I've had any issues with CarPlay. But then I always plug in my Phone and put it in the center console (wireless charging is set to off) before I start driving. Most of the time I'm listening to Apple Music via CarPlay or Amazon music via CarPlay.

I was waiting for the longest time for Android auto to be available and after the update I ended up never using it. The built in music apps work will enough for what I need and I love the navigation integration into the dashboard.

Nowadays, I see Android auto as a nice fallback when I'm renting a car that doesn't have a good native infotainment.

Same, but wireless works great for me. Only problem I have is that I sometimes forget phone when I leave

This won’t be popular post and I expect a few down votes. I know that given we all bought 6 figure cars we should expect everything to be perfect but here is my experience; yes sometimes you get a few strange messages popping up, yes car play can play something you hadn’t planned and yes sometimes PCM is laggy. But have you driven the thing like it’s meant to be driven? These things are magnificent to drive and worth every penny glitches or not. I’d buy the same with the same experience any time.

I just came back from a two week trip to Sicily. I found Waze to be unuseable, so I switched to google maps, which was excellent. Even in small villages, google maps never failed me.
From what I have been told by hoteliers who I queried, Waze is fine in North America but falls down in Europe. In one hotel, which was off the beaten path, they texted me the geo coordinates. I plugged them into google maps and found the hotel.

That said, personally I have no issues with CarPlay. I’m a light weight user (Pandora is my most often used streaming music service) and it’s working fine for my usage. I also have an Echo Auto in all my cars so I normally navigate via Alexa.

I have no qualms with the driving dynamics of the car. In fact my only complaints have been around the PCM, mostly resolved with the big update save for the Carplay one.

It's a quality-of-life issue when it's a small annoyance multiplied by every single time you use the car.

Honestly I just don't think Porsche tests for these real world scenarios; my Targa had the annoyance of returning to AM radio static if I turned off the car on Bluetooth audio.

Native navigation sent me to this back road last time to save 5min and after driving for 10min+ the road was closed and I had to return to the starting point wasting another 10min+ while the navi kept telling me to make an u turn back to the closed road, and worse I now got to charge to car to reach the destination. It's kind of sad I constantly need to cross check with Apple maps/google maps with the help of my wife to see if I am on the best route. The native navi also doesn't list the step-by-step route either so you can't tell easily if it's giving same route as apple/google maps. Super annoying.

For me, it's worth it to stop having this annoyance every single time I use the car.
I use spotify for my tunes and it is too cumbersome to use the spotify connectivity so I stay with carplay.
for nav, when not needing to find L3 chargers, and prep the battery I find waze to be better for me, so I'll stick with carplay.

So this comes under whatever floats your boat.

Of course if that’s your measure then that’s meaningful for you and should be your bench. I’m just saying (and asking) that for me the balance of all the aspects of the car ends up as a fantastic experience. Yes, I‘ve had better software on previous cars but man, the overall package is just fantastic. If I could do it all again knowing what I know I absolutely would. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I've done that, it will work. it is only necessary when on longer trips that require L3 charge stops. the native nav will prep the battery for charging.
