So I ate a large rock on the interstate on my first road trip in this car. Windshield crack is about the size of a half-dollar and has grown evvvveerrrr so slightly in the last 10 days. I initially attempted the SafeLite repair option with my insurer both as it was $0 and to immediately stop any further spidering/delamination til I could sort out a full replacement. SafeLite won't touch it (and the tech was a bit of a dick). Cool, thanks SafeLite, thanks insurer.
I got a quote from the closest Porsche dealer I trust of about $3,500 to replace, and it's with my insurance now to see if they will cover it. There are some local glass shops that participate in my insurer's program, that I'd really like to avoid - no idea on their ability to properly repair, etc. I guess I am wondering if $3,500 is about right for replacement and recalibrating, or if I should just go with the best approved local shop with good reviews.
