After the car alarm going off often on its own seems to have been resolved by sensor change (after a wait that took months), my main issue with the car is unreliable connection with My Porsche app in my phone. Sometimes app things and functions are up-to-date and work with a click, sometimes very frustratingly nothing gets updated and commands do not reach the car.

Looking forward to this update resolving those issues. Don't mind extra logins or potential extra restart/reset as long as the update improves the connectivity.
Same here.

there’s nothing scary about that email. It’s just practical advice received by lots of us who bought the car when it first came out. Back then the servers often had trouble with initial logon.

A server upgrade is GREAT news!

I suspect it won't unfortunately. The tech is flakey and may be hardware related.

Upgrade to the Connect services…

see video at

I received an email letter this morning detailing procedure because we must input our credential and PIN as well. Apparently many tries may be needed for all the online services to activate :headbang: They really are amateurs when it comes to OTA. Expecting the worst… hope it does not brick too many cars !
We've had this upgrade email already in Australia (scheduled for 6th April).
I did not see any change in features for my MY21 4S afterwards, but I confess I didn't check versions before/after.

I did have problems with the My Porsche app after the upgrade - I lost Connection Services in the app for several days. I sent emails to the support contact in the app with no reply.
The app managed to find the Connection Services by itself several days later.

The car reconnected fine though the logout/login process was hmmm....not what I would have expected from Porsche...

My suspicion is they are rolling out a server upgrade rather than OTA to the car. I was hoping for Spotify support to be added to the car, but no luck even though I have Spotify linked in Connection Services.

It is just a server migration that's all. No new features or updates on the car. What it should enable however, is more reliable future connectivity, and possibly OTA updates - but initially nothing feature related.

Why more reliable connectivity?

The Comms hardware in the car is the Achilles Heel not cloud servers.

It's all a positive step but not a giant leap forward.

To my understanding is that there will be an OTA-update on the car on 26/27th april (other countries may have a different date) and AFTER that you have to log in again with the procedure as described in the email.

I don't think so because in the email it's stated to first find a place where the car is able to connect. That means if it is an OTA-update, it wouldn't have been updated by lack of connection (so why reconnect then ?).

You need a good connection to the internet for the OTA-update to happen.
After the car is prepared you have to reconnect the car to the new server system (preferably within 24 hours).
That's why you need to log out en in again.

They speak about having "a connection" to do the reconnection trick. Not to do an OTA-update ...

there is nothing about this that is an OTA update - it's a welcome improvement to the infrastructure - but is not a vehicle OTA update.

@Administrator the title of this thread is in-accurate - there is no OTA update here, but could represent a nice and welcome improvement to Porsche's vehicle connection services.
