As the std plates reveal the age of a car - the vehicle almost inevitably attracts the attention of the vindictive jealous vandal types when brand-spanking new so having a personal plate reduces the risk a little. I went for S12 and my initials perhaps 20 years ago. It is possible to have legal 'show plates' made so at the bottom of mine and as a tease for my clay-shooting mates I have 'Perazzi Carriage'.:)
There are so many shooters out there with GUN or SHOT etc in their number plates. I get it if you own a gun shop or club etc. But i've always thought it very risky advertising the fact you probably have some guns locked away in your house to all and sundry. Less of an issue if it's just the small font tag line at the bottom of the plate i guess.

In fairness, I think someone on here has TA23GTS, so at best I’m a joint record holder.
:like:
That would be me! I wanted EV23GTS but someone beat me to it, someone with the same surname and identical car to me, no relation ?

Cheesy depends on what you have on the plate! I've had private plates with the name of my business each time over the last 25 years (3 different so far). I debadge my car and I don't have a front plate, but since I'm required to have a rear plate, why not make it something you like as opposed to some random alphanumeric sequence???

I have a private plate on retention (JH16GNS - my name is John Higgins). However, I can't decide whether to put in on the GTS when it arrives.

What do people think of 'low value' private plates. If I could find/afford JON 1 then I'd go for that one obviously! ?
I detest Vanity Plates. Seem very 20th Century and excess bling detracts from a nice car imho. Seem very popular with Caravaners, Corsa owners and those with early onset who have forgotten their name and or initials. Sadly a tweedy old twit with a yellow Boxster said my Targa would never be a ‘proper Porsche’ without a Vanity plate. Think he was an A1DIK - you did ask for opinions!!!?,

I did, and it is always good to have balance! :)

Not sure about it being a 20th Century thing though. A load of vintage cars have private plates. In fact pretty much everyone I've seen. Must have been all the rage back in those days I think.

Seems like a popular thread!! For what it's worth, I've never owned a private plate. I am not a fan of the vanity (my name plate) but have been tempted ...

My (german) neighbour in London had one which made me chuckle every time I saw it - it spelled KAISER :)

When it came to the Taycan GTS, I considered various options including my initials followed by GTS, but then, the next owner may not have the same initials and I may not own a GTS next time. That said, absolutely love the GTS and the spec I got it down to.

In the end, I went for PO23GTS and I really like it and get a kick out of seeing it each time (sad I know!). It's personal, an accurate lable for the car, and resellable to anyone with a Porsche GTS. Quite similar to SteveGTS above (TA23GTS).

So, I guess my thoughts are; generally lower value personal plates are not worth it. But it is personal preference in the end and about how much do you want to stand out or make others laugh.

They weren’t private plates just standard issue. My old Dad had 11DBP straight from Ford Dealer in 1961 followed by 201 NPX and 441 GBP- it’s just how they were issued!! Being pedantic we all have unique personal plates on the front and rear of our cars generally of an unpretentious nature.

Not my cup of tea. I order my cars de-badged, so no point in putting the car name/model back on the plate.

Very rarely do I see a clever one. Most are "meh". Occasionally you see some that are really pathetic, like the not terribly new Nissan Armada with a "Billionz" plate yesterday. Yeah, um, right. impressive!

I actually would prefer to have a car/plate that is not memorable so that no crazies could remember/track me. That's one of the reasons why I always pick bland colors for my cars without any vanity plates.
