Some of the Porsche equity research I've read has picked up on sluggish Taycan sales and they're extrapolating that this may be a big long-term headache for Porsche if its target customers are too enamoured with their ICE products, and if people buying EVs are less willing to pay the Porsche premium (Chinese EVs are "good enough").

I don' t think that Porsche has cracked this code yet. its share price has taken a massive hit in the past 9 months
All true but Porsche has the most loyal customer base despite not great reliability. Porsche as a brand is hard to beat. I know some will have bad experiences but they build great cars, have in my view excellent customer service that would take any Chinese brand twenty years to emulate. Porsche has a great back catalogue in racing and collector cars that supports the current model line up. A blip in demand and prices during tough times economically would be expected, even Porsche cannot defy the negative macro economic climate.

I would expected that Cayennes will have near zero stock since new model just arrived.

I don't know how things works in UK, but a car like Taycan in the US has a lot of sales in the last 2-3 months of the year because of leasing deals that will help people get taxes incentives in their 2023 taxes, so I imagine Porsche will stock a lot of cars for that reason in the end of the year, and here the huge price decline in Tesla Model S will probably have some consequences in allocations being canceled IMHO
I am totally guessing here....

I have been told that the vast majority of Taycans in the UK are business lease cars.

There are lots of them as the tax system makes it far more affordable to get a new (not used) Taycan than an Ice equivalent.

By contrast the tax incentives for individual are minimal to zero.

So a Taycan may be cheaper to own as a business car, than say a VW Golf R.

All these Taycans go out on business lease (with fantastic tax incentives) only to return to the dealers at end of lease to be sold with no incentives.
And the business owner just leases another new one to continue their cheap motoring.

And the private buying pool for a used £60k+ luxury EV with zero tax incentives is extremely limited.

Just had a chat with my rep at Porsche Centre on Teesside and apparently quite a few builds for Russia and Ukraine were reallocated to other countries and some dealers are getting 10+ cars to sell as new.

I got 14% off on a CT4 order last week, direct with Porsche. Order was close to spec lock and collect late November/early December.

Makes me wonder if something is known/in the offing but was happy to go ahead. Genuinely took no effort at all.

Not sure what models it covered but I had prices on the 4 and 4s with same discount
Hi Paul

When you say direct from Porsche, was that Porsche Retail Group (Reading, Guildford, Hatfield, West London and Mayfair) or from your local Porsche Centre? It would be useful to know which location you dealt with and also the SA.... I might give them a call :)

PRG Reading are trying to talk me into changing my 11 month old CT 4S, which I will only do if I can get the right spec on the new one. Their stock new cars are being advertised at circa 12% off MY24 and 16.4% off MY23, they have said they can better those prices but there is no point in negotiating unless I can get the right spec. Interesting you were offered 14% off a new build.

No problem - I shared the info by PM previously but don't think there's an issue posting it now?

This was Porsche Leeds. Sheffield offered a similar deal but wanted to load it with insurance products. Leeds were happy to do without so I went ahead. Actually had my production complete message at the weekend so progressing as they said too.

That's interesting because Sheffield and Leeds are all part of the same group, JCT600, so I'm surprised they had different approaches.

I got 10k knocked off as compensation for having to wait six months while the car was stuck in the port. The key moment was when I said, "I'd like my deposit back please."

I negotiated a delay based discount into the custom order purchase contract last year. Since they wanted a non-refundable deposit to freeze the configuration, I figured it was only fair. SA said he's never seen this done, but they accepted it. The car was delayed, so I got it at the lower price.

Hi all, first post on this forum - thanks for all the useful info I've gained from lurking in the past couple of months!

100% agree with this. I've just changed out of my M3 Touring (great car and was somewhat upset to see it go!) and now have a GTS ST through my business (as it just makes much more sense from a financial perspective). It's the only reason I changed and I certainly wouldn't have entertained putting through a Taycan personal contract. The maths on the Taycan make much more sense if you're a business owner and the current tax breaks also swayed me (after some deliberation) to go for a new car (albeit a canceled order with a serious chunk off) rather than a used one.

I was somewhat underwhelmed by my first Porsche buying experience though.....A 'top' salesperson at Guildford didn't respond to my email inquiry (intro through a friend who is one of their 'RS' customers) or phone call. Nothing. Then popped to Reading a couple of weeks later, spent 2 hours with one of their salespeople, had a good test drive, and agreed on a handful of cars that he was going to run some numbers on......didn't hear another thing and wasn't about to chase on principal. No wonder there are so many cars on forecourts, new and used...

Ended up dealing with Porsche Aberdeen who were fantastic, did a deal remotely, and had the car delivered down to me, some 500-odd miles south!

Only a few weeks in and thoroughly enjoying the GTS overall, very different wagon to my last one, but the only EV that tickled my fancy, and I've tried most of them.

I agree completely! I moved from an RS4 to my first Tacan 4S CT in March 22 via Bristol having bought a for fun 911 Targa 4S from them the year before. Quite underwhelming experience (£1500 off which salesman told me he’d been told off for giving - why did I need to know??) This car had all the problems known to Taycan and I rejected it. Dealer Principal arranged a replacement similar with a few more bits which arrived March 23. No real issues apart from faulty fitment of dashcam- however in 21 months of EV ownership I have been off the road 3 times with no loan car ( 2 weeks in October) Porsche uk have offered 416+vat as a goodwill and now are not responding to my email- rubbish service.
However, I can highly recommend Colchester Porsche who supplied me a cancellation 911 Turbo S saving me nearly £40k on a local deal in Bristol . Local sales guy said I shouldn’t buy out of area or it could ruin my chances of being on a (fictional ) GT3 list. So sad decent products are let down by arrogant sales people and poor service , delayed bookings and no loan cars. To be fair the Service guys at Bristol are very good but not able to make speedy bookings or supply loan cars. Sales seem to focus on making as much money as possible making the customer feel bad when they go elsewhere!! Hi hum - merry Christmas to all.

2 cancelled order stories in 2 days on this thread already leading to a handsome discount - is this a new Porsche tactic for disguising the over purchase of cars by Porsche UK leading to a glut (primarily Taycans but not exclusively) of cars at the dealerships??

I think a lot of cancelled orders are down to those buying on PCp and high interest rates and unpredictable residual values due to the p poor state of the economy. Hopefully a General Election, new Government might bring some stability to the market in a year or two.

Agree with the first bit. Don't see why a dealer would fib about cancelled orders.

There is absolutely sod all chance of a GE giving any respite though. Both major parties are at peak moron and the minor parties reached that years ago.

What we need is for both major parties to split.

Does anyone have an actual example of buying a new Taycan at a discount in the US? Anything on something besides an RWD model? The feelers I've put out have told me I should feel lucky to "only" pay MSRP.
If you're still in the market - there are definitely a lot of incentives now - can technically get up to $22k off with all of them combined.
