cynically, I think Tesla is purposely dragging their feet. Then on the other hand bc they have a failed product (Cyber Cheesewedge) that will never generate a unit profit in its entire lifecycle and recent brand destruction, they may need to generate more revenue from their charging infrastructure.

All things considered, I wager our cars will gain access to Rivian networks before Tesla in 2025. VAG invested heavily into Rivian and both companies have aligned incentives to integrate their vehicles and charging networks. (VAG owns EA)

Lastly, a massive player is coming online nationally in months, Walmart. They are not messing around by installing the best hardware on the market today. (Side note- Ionna, co-owned by major manufacturers have already launched, also using the Alpitronic HYC 400). 2025-2026 will be a big year for non-Tesla networks, and by end of 2025, Tesla may actually fall behind with their pitiful 400v v3 units. Not to be forgotten, EA's newest hardware is much more reliable (so I'm told by an EA insider).

If you have an adapter you can use the Tesla network now. Go to the Tesla website. Choose using other brands. On the drop down menu select Porsche. They select Taycan. It will ask if you have an adapter. Select yes. Then you will be prompted to set up an account. After you do that, you’ll be set up.

You are correct on setting up your phone with the app, however it is extremely unlikely that our car will charge at any Tesla Supercharger other than a magicdock equipped one. Several forum members have tried charging with an adapter and failed to connect and charge. No VW brand is even listed as "coming soon" on the Tesla website. It would be great news if something has changed but nothing has been reported.

If Tesla and VW know the timetable they are not talking about it. Even once "we" are added there are 5 manufacturers ahead of where we will be on the list. It doesn't look like it's happening in the near future.

Yep, my feelings exactly. Rivian is likely to open up to us before Tesla. Hopefully in 2025... I'm not in a hurry, but would be useful for my winter road trips to ski country bc the EA station in the resort town is a throttled and busy

I've learned (the hard way) to not rely on anything EA. I've made several recent trips that required charging on the road. CCS options are multiplying and in general seem far more reliable than EA. Probably due in some part to being new installations but also they are being installed where there is 24 hour activity reducing the odds of vandalism. Buc-ee's, Circle K, Pilot/Flying J, FPL (Florida) and as you mentioned Walmart. Heading to an EA just because I have included charging is just not worth the lost time and frustration. Options are getting better and honestly lessening my rabid desire for access to Tesla.

Shame you don’t have access. In UK we can charge at many Tesla chargers but not all. The older chargers can be a challenge as cables are short but with some outrageous parking it is possible.
